Deus Ex??!!

still plenty of ways to mess it up, but I love what I've seen/heard so far

and there will be plenty of shiny surfaces to stylishly reflect your face, that part i'm not worried about

what's the point of getting to choose between male and female if the game is a fps? what's the point of wearing cool clothes if you can't see them?
will the game at least go to third person during dialogues? because if the game doesn't even have those witcher 3 like conversations i'm seriously going to drop the game
The game switches to third person when speaking to people and during cutscenes. Also the character is voiced.

Ugh voiced protag? Oh well, hopefully they have different options for each gender ala Dragon Age Inquisition. I don't wanna make an old bald dude and have him sound like he's in his 20s

FPS is gonna risk undercutting a lot of the RPG-feel of creating a custom character......

I'm not unsold, but I was hoping for more of a hybrid - though I'm assuming it'll at least be like Deus-Ex for conversations.

I might be a crazy person, but I mostly play Fallout and TES in 3rd person. I can play a 1st person game as well, but it's not my go to if I have a choice.

I hate first person with a passion, always have because it's nothing like actual first person, it's some bastardized floating head with a gun attached. I realize that some games animate the legs and the arms but there is still a significant disconnect, an uncanny valley of sorts where you are meant to be the person in the game but the perspective is always lacking compared to real life.

I definitely hoped for a third person with optional first only while using guns.
Admittedly I'm a bit disappointed by this news.

Not that I can't appreciate first person games and this won't make me lose interest in the title, but I had a very clear preference about this point.

The only Bethesda game with a decent 3rd person option was Fallout 4 imo and even that had its issues. I mean yeah I'll switch back and forth just to look at my character but still.

YUSSSSSSSS First Person.

I hated the Witcher 3's weird ass running, walk animations, especially in tight corridor environments. I don't need to see the back of my character taking up 30% of the screen.

I assume you will be able to look down and see your body in this 2020 possibly 2021 game. I'm sure the first person will be fine guys. Not the first FPP game out there

Confirmed that you can drive vehicles in either first or third person, with the UI appearing in-world, on the windshield, if you're in first person.

I was hoping for 3rd person, but if we get to see the character during dialogs and cutscenes, I'm a little bit more cool with it. If not, then I don't understand the point of all the customization options in FPS games, simply because you can't even see the character in the first place.

I play mostly stealth characters so I prefer to see mine relative to the environment at all times. I don't really mind the poor animations and stuff, although I'm not gonna praise them.

What FPS I'm out. Level of hype dropped
I don't think it's a "FPS", it's likely first-person perspective RPG (like the many that exist, such as Bloodlines or Morrowind), and it'll have guns and other abilities like the Cyberpunk franchise already has (the TTRPG), just because Fallout New Vegas has first person and guns doesn't make it a FPS, it's a RPG, DOOM is a FPS. The press and people are generally really bad using the term so loosely.

Cyberpunk is a RPG franchise, would be stupid as hell to get its creator to work on the game and use the IP when you don't want to make a RPG but a FPS instead, considering there are various roles that do not have an emphasis on guns at all like the Netrunner.

I'm personally very happy to hear that it's first person. I actually liked Skyrim/Fallout more than the Witcher series(or even previous GTAs) because of that. And with gunplay especially, FP makes the most sense to me. I was really, really hoping it was going to be a FP RPG, and now my hype levels cannot possibly be any higher.

This might be the most hype I've ever been for a game in my life.

I have a feeling this will the kind of first person that properly utilizes the perspective rather than just being a camera change like Fallout and Skyrim

Imagine having different ocular implants affecting how you see the world. HUD options being modifications you can buy and equip. Augmented reality that lets you see through a hacked security camera out of one eye. Having to buy a shitty ocular implant that places in-games ads from megacorps in your AR view of the world.

The more I listen, there more I think they are going for the Skyrim meets Deus Ex. FPS AND cover based shooting?

The ONE thing I can see being a positive about this is that it may allow them to more easily include different body types. There were a couple different character models that appeared to be potential player characters and one guy was a lot bigger than another so I would think that first person would make it a lot easier to incorporate that sort of thing when third person only occurs during cutscenes and such.
