whoa, are you serious? control center will be like x on all phones? that's bullshit. what will bottom swipe do?It'll be there on all iPhones from September so makes sense to align
Well considering all of the models coming out this fall will not have a home button, I guess it'll... do exactly what it does on the X?whoa, are you serious? control center will be like x on all phones? that's bullshit. what will bottom swipe do?
iOS12 and macOS Mojave were absolutely amazing - hitting most everything I wanted.
watchOS5 and tvOS were complete failures in my opinion.
watchOS really needs a face lift but I assume Apple Watch Series 1 is holding that back.
oh, i thought you meant it will change on older phones too (7, 8, etc)Well considering all of the models coming out this fall will not have a home button, I guess it'll... do exactly what it does on the X?
As detuned radios said, I think 2D systems are fine, and Dolphin will be getting native metal support soon. I'm not sure what else supports macOS in the first place? Maybe Mupen64Plus?Does that mean the death of the majority of emulators on Macs as well? I remember OpenGL support being a factor as to why some of them were fairly reasonable despite a Windows/Linux focus for development.

The lack of Apple Music updates is sad. That app needs to be reworked and desperately needs dark mode.
sorry, i thought you meant that on ios 12, even the notch-less phones will have their control center work like it does on x.Well that's my assumption based on the rumour that all three will have no home button
I need to know what work Apple's Pro Workflow team & their Pro App Dev outreach team are doing, because no OpenGL and no OpenCL is gonna have huge implications for stuff like 3D apps.
I'm going to assume that they are fully aware of this and are providing assistance & foreknowledge to the makers of many pro apps so that Metal based versions of those apps are ready to go long-before 10.15.

debating if i'm brave enough to install mojave on my main machine. i'm on the 10.13.6 beta right now, but i've seen first betas of major macOS releases be pretty fucking rough.
Wow my Air 2 feels way faster with iOS 12. I was going to wait to put it on my phone but I might just do it.
The status bar is iPhone X style with time and date on the left and battery and WiFi on the right.
The control center no longer has the settings toggles, those are in the top right pull down.
Does iOS 12 work on iPad Air 1? I don't even use it anymore as it's gotten pretty damn slow.
I wonder if iOS apps coming to macOS next year implies some large shift in thinking at Apple? I love my Surface Book 2 but still want a Mac laptop with pen support.
Just don't do it.
I had the tendency to do that too on my main machine, but it's just not usable. Not even the public beta. Used to do it for the past 4 releases, but the weird shutdowns, heating up when a glitch happen causing the fans to go turbo were not worth it.
I'll just be waiting until Fall.
there are a pretty large number of sessions at WWDC this year specifically about moving from opengl/opencl to metal

Sorry I just mean it works like it is an iPhone X. Control centre or whatever it is called.
Spotify conquered the fan made, very promising watch app like two years ago and they haven't done shit with it to this very date. Don't even bother expecting anything from them.My friend said background Audio streaming was coming to WatchOS. Does this mean a Spotify app is on the way?
I see no reason to use an Apple exclusive password manager over my way more robust and elaborate multiplatform 1Password solution and proper OS integration, which Android already offers, was long overdue. This makes no sense to me. Why are they enabling third-party password managers instead of Sherlocking one and rolling it into iOS natively? I mean if y'all trust some indie app company to protect your passwords, more power to you, but I consider it a security risk and I'm surprised Apple doesn't.

Also, I don't think you are understanding the term "indie" correctly.
I'm not even running High Sierra yet.
(I will be later this week, tho, I finally put an SSD in my 2011 MBP)
1. I'm in the Apple ecosystem only, so I don't care about multiplatform and neither would Apple. Unless you mean Mac and iOS as separate platforms, which Apple already supports with iCloud Keychain.
2. I would not trust anyone besides Apple to protect the security of my data on device. The people at 1Password are well-meaning and work hard I'm sure, but they don't have the resources Apple does and they don't control the hardware and software stack.
Ooh wow, yeah bout time for a ssd. I have a 2011 MBP model too (17 inch) and put a ssd after 2 years. It's a life changer for daily use.
What old dinosaur do you use ;d (what model?).
its not just a technical thing though, it's an incentivisation thing as well. Some might have been willing to assign resources when they could use cross platform aspects like OpenGL/CL but might decide the economics of doing metal versions isn't favourable to them. Apple will need to do some work to court / support them if need be.
Kind of the impression I got. I feel like that "NO!" slide will be made fun of years down the road.
Just give it until the end of the year or something to see if anything's announced. High Sierra will continue to get security updates for a couple of years yet.Looks like I'm out of luck with my early 2011 MBP. I would like to upgrade too but I was hoping for new Mac hardware that fixes those shitty butterfly keyboards. Oh well.
I thought it was High Sierra.
Please, stop it :)Apple did release new hardware!
