When you switch bases do your cars come with you? I'm hoping the supplies do too since I've been using them as banks basically, lol.

When the survivors in your enclave start shooting, does it spend ammo in the equipped gun or does it eat the stockpile ammo?

For some reason, the container fort in Cascade Hill seems to encourage the survivors in my enclave to shoot a lot.

from my experience it doesn't use their ammo though i keep them stocked just in case, their weapons also don't seem to break

They should've waited two weeks to launch with the patch. Scores would've been much better with less bugs but now they are stained. Not many sites do re-reviews really.

There is no way that they could have identified all of these bugs without it being in the wild. Nothing like one million players playing a game to reveal the bugs.

I don't remember reading they tweaked the jogging (not sprinting) animation. It feels less..*jumpy*? Overall game feels much better with the patch.

I really don't like a legacy quest needs you to build certain structures when I've already filled up all the slots.
I thought I would be really annoyed at Builder due to that, but it went really smoothly. It only asked me to build one thing and I didn't mind since I was trying to end the playthrough anyway.

Btw, Builder + Trader Boon is too OP. Feels like I am using cheats :D

Holy shit I crashed my 3rd car into the Pit of Death on one of the maps, a little ditch section full of rocks that comes up on you out of nowhere near the bottom of one of the maps. I was trying to go search for a dead friends body (the loot really) and stumbled on a plague heart (the last in my area according to my survivor). I'd looted 3 guns and 3 explosives along the way so I figured I was good, but as I got to the building, 2 hordes, 2 of the gas dudes, and a juggernaut showed up near. As I was noping the fuck out I crashed into the ditch.

I'm amazed that my other two cars are still there, including my upgraded van. I tried flipping from the front, nothing. I went and found a survey car and rammed the van, it did lodge it out a little. But then the car ran out of gas. I flipped the van a few more times and tried to floor it and lean it in different directions and then it also ran out of gas.

I maneuvered my way to the trunk of my truck I'd just crashed, which was hard because of the rocks and I retrieved a gas can. I gassed up the van and noticed the game removed the survey car from the ditch and placed it neatly in the backyard right by it. I gassed up the van and wiggled it around a bit and huzzah, freedom! But during that time I had a mission helping someone with a siege, and a trader, both of which were timed. I finished the siege and drove my beat up and running on fumes van back to my home because my survivor was fatigued.

I swapped survivors, gassed up and raced out to the trader and reached her with 15 seconds left and browsed her wares and just as I was about to sell all the high value stuff I'd brought... her timer hit zero and she ran off :(

Been away from this thread for awhile since I've been playing Detroit but it's nice to see that the patch has gone live. Looking forward to completing a legacy already after 77+ hours on this game.

I already filled up my slots with beds and I have like 11 people in my enclave lol. I'm gonna have to upgrade a bed slot and hope its enough while I demolish the other bed.

HUGE patch. Time to jump back in.

When you switch bases do your cars come with you? I'm hoping the supplies do too since I've been using them as banks basically, lol.
Only if they are parked.
That's partially correct. If you have two cars in two car spots, yeah they do. However, if you have a bunch of cars parked without the equivalent parking spots, they won't move all of them.

Basically, if you have two spots but 3+ cars "parked" they'll only move two cars. You'll have to go get the rest manually.

That's a bug. The parked status is supposed to signify the cars in the base menu (presumably, in those parking slots).

Forgot I was in the close to a heart last time I played. Had no coop partners.

Two zombies grabbed onto the car and destroyed it. No idea if I quit in time. Is there a way to shake them off?

Stated bug or we're guessing it's a bug?

Cause it's weird that they'd even put spot count on bases if you can squeeze like 4 cars in 1 spot. lol
Sorry, I don't think I was clear: I mean there shouldn't be more parked cars than you have parking slots.

And yeah, I'm just guessing it's a bug.

If they're clinging to a door, you can switch to that seat and attack (open the door) to get them off. If they're on the front or back, you can just bump into something solid, like a wall, to kill them.

If you get out of the car the zombies will also hop off it to attack you. It's a good way to save the vehicle from some wear and tear when it gets swarmed.

I remember being able to knock zombies off the car by braking in the first game. I wonder if i remembered it wrong?

Just finished my first playthrough at 25 hours. Wow, that Builder's Legacy is incredible! Looking forward to starting over again with a different leader. Maybe I'll see more human drama this time around.

J-turn cleans off any Z-s form the car. Pulling it off sucks with bigger cars though. Works really good on Maximilian and Road Racer MX. Doable on Pilato, and a pain in the ass in Vans or Utility Truck.

I built both a Vandito and a Road Mangler, and after a single ride with the Vandito I had enough of its weighty controls. I'm rather taking 2 trips in a fun-to-drive car, than that tank.

The AI's pretty bad at fighting Juggernauts. They'll melee them then sit and get hit by a Juggernaut's punch. It's best if the player takes point.

Like, I was afraid of them for the longest time before I realised it's pretty easy to dodge every one of their attacks, at least when 1v1.

From the quickly closed thread...

————-

What is the deal here? Why did it get so low scores?

I tried it through Gamepass last night and thought it would be bad considering some reviews, but it's "free" so why not test it?
Well, what started out as a quick testrun ended with a 6 hour play session without stops. I absolutely love it!

It's like The Last of Us and Dead Rising mixed with This War of Mine. Or something like that. But deeper. Can't quite describe it, I'm still early on but the base building, stamina/health system and human relations and resources gameplay makes it really stand out. I've not played anything like it before! I'm throughly impressed of what I've played so far!
I checked the OT quick and don't know if I just got lucky starting after it had been patched or what the deal is but the low scores are seriously malplaced right now as I see it. This is a great game!

Makes me sad that those who has already decided that this game is bad won't bother looking at this post. The OT basically don't exist either, I know because that was me as well. The game was bad so why bother?

I just thought I would give it a quick testrun through Gamepass and ended up loving it, more so than most other zombie games, add the "pick up junk and use as weapons" gameplay from Dead Rising and I'd give it 9/10 without hesitation. At this point it's a solid 8/10 after just these first 6 hours.

It starts out too slow though, in my opinion, the closed up starting area is doing the game a huge disservice, it was a short segment but it's initially made me believe the scores were right, it's when it opens up the fun starts.

I haven't researched how much the choices makes the game differ, where you go after finding the car, if you choose to not help the people you meet etc. I went with the valley, huge green open area with houses and has so far helped everyone and got new characters to play with as well. Does the other areas and choices make the game worse considering the varied scores?

Some questions...
Haven't read much about the survival aspect. I've met dead people and could loot their backpacks. If someone in my community dies, can I go get their stuff if I find their body, like in ZombiU?
How do I make a garden? Do I have to find a house with a garden or can I construct it?

Anyway I can't wait to jump in again tonight!

—————

...and by "The OT basically don't exist" I mean that those who has already wrote this game off based on the scores won't look here. And since the thread got closed, won't see this "wake up call" of a post either, which makes me sad now. :( Doomed by too harsch reviews, clearly not by bad gameplay.

As for myself, I haven't been this positively surprised by a game in ages, it feels like it's doing so much that everybody else just ignores.
It's not a BOTW moment but it's so so so not worth the harsh reviews, I'm genuinely questioning the validity of some reviews now, people simply can't be that jaded.

Damn I just bought €30 worth of Turkish Xbox Live credit and added it to my Microsoft account, and now it seems I can't use those funds to buy the game :( It looks like I should not have topped up my account, but should have added the codes for the MS credit at "add payment option" when clicking on buy game :( So if there is no workaround for this, I'm stuck with €30 unusable credit and don't get to play the game this months because I can't afford to buy it again right now :(

Played ~3 hours with the patch. Instead of the white line, now I'm getting weird green colors popping up sometimes, had a house emitting red/blue lights at night. It's not that common, but scared me for a bit.
I'm on the valley map currently, and for the first time ever, I'm seeing loading screens when the game has trouble streaming the map. Didn't see this before the patch. It's 2-3 sconds, like Vice City :D.
Doors aren't much better. Now, instead of them showing up as open, they show up as closed.

Oh, and seriously, what's up with reloads in this game? I have a maxed out survivor, with Weapon Handling and she manages to reload a SCAR in 4-5 tries.

The radio chatter is getting interesting now,
Someone broadcasting supposedly ran away from Red Talon, where they make survivors work in mines. Then Red Talon is now doing damage control.
. It'd be cool if we could pick these people up once as followers.

i am wondering whats the deal with that red talon stuff, just some background story noise or an overarching story over several playthroughs? or foreshadowing of dlc events? did i miss something?

Add to the already mentioned stuff that you can always ram them into something else is you don't want to lose momentum. Zombies on front or rear can be dislodged if you just ram into another zombie and the side zombies you can sideswipe them into an object to smack them off.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear: I mean there shouldn't be more parked cars than you have parking slots.

Oh, ok. Cause I always have way more parked vehicles than the spot count calls for. As I said, I squeeze like 3+ cars into a single spot, so when I move they definitely don't move everything I have.

What is the deal here? Why did it get so low scores?
-It's not a visual showcase.
-Janky, non-fluid controls and interface.
-Bugs all over the place.
-Network issues aplenty.

People that like the premise can look past a lot, but others can't. That said, were I do review the game I'd definitely state every issue I have with it and it would be disingenuous if the score wasn't lowered because of them.

Some questions...

-Yeah, your guys drop their bags if they die and you can go recover it with someone else.
-For a garden, you can create one in any base. You just need a small outdoor spot. Then if you want to bump up the amount of food it supplies, you can do other things like provide water, use pesticides, collect the seed packets you find in the world, get a survivor with gardening traits, find a book about gardening in your travels and have someone read it to learn the skill etc. There are probably bases you can move to that already have one there too. That's just the nature of the game..

When starting out, after you get comfortable on the starting home location, you should explore the map and use all the survey sites. They'll show you everything available on the map and then you can just use the in-game map and check out all the possible home sites and see what they provide before you make up your mind to move. Some will have pre-built features that you may see as a priority.. like a garden. Then they'll have a mixture of small and large lots where you can build whatever you want.

Start with the basics. Food, medicine, shelter (beds) and move on from there.

Thats some master chief collection size patch.

How can a patch even be that large without any DLC?

Sometimes to get a patch earlier out to the gamers they dont have time to shrink it really. And sometimes is best to download the ""whole game" again when a patch addresses alot of things in the game on many fronts.
Same happened with SoT first patch. Instead of waiting another week really.

I'm currently finishing my 3rd community and radio stuff is basically non-existent now, I think it's just sequel-baiting, 1 did the same thing with the network and all we have are some radio transmissions, cool at the beginning, but overall it very disappointing.

Could it be something to do with the 2 upcoming dlc packs?

Very nice that they patched the annoying white line that popped up during night driving.

I'm very much loving this game, though I haven't encountered a truly game breaking bug yet.

I have two outposts generating passive meds, but then I have the level two infirmary that is costing me 2 meds per day so I'm not really getting ahead of meds. I need better gardening skills so it can also generate meds.

I usually don't see a point in having anything at +. I make the base go +-0 and then I just let the random bags I find offset those random -1/-2/-3 that comes from clumsy/stupid community members and zombie defense.
