The only actual difference is that there was a woman in this trailer and the outfits were slightly more extreme than what BF usually has. The tone and level of action is the same.
BF1's trailer had a woman. Pretty sure BF4's did too.

I'm sure some of the people not liking the trailer are sexists but it's also possible to just ya know... not like it

So Fortnite didn't just invent John Wick and Thanos.

They also invented fortifications.

Holy shit I feel like I entered an alternate reality in this thread.

You are most definitely triggered, lmao

Nice try.

I just don't need every game to be all zany and diverse with paint, neon colors, Mohawks, metal arms, etc in every game, least of all WW2 games.

For the record I can't stand loud skins on guns, taunts, dances, etc, in games. Other people may enjoy it, but I sure don't. Roll my eyes playing MP COD games for example seeing idiotic green guns and the like while playing.

With the amount of people bitching about believability due to the presence of women, you'd think there would've been a much more vocal outcry about not having to deal with trench foot, or being able to carry around heavy machine guns with ease in BF1.

This looks like some fantasy game. Are they even trying to capture the feel of WW2?

Keep making WW2 into a joke and that's how we end up with kids thinking its perfectly ok to join the alt-right

WW2 was a very dark and bloody time in history and the world wouldn't have been so vivid. I'm not saying the world was black in white like in the films because that wouldn't make sense but it's different and perceived differently. Probably somewhere in between Saving Private Ryan and Dunkirk if we were being realistic.

The overblown coloration of the trailer just kills any feeling of authenticity.

To be fair there was a guy called Jack Churchill in WW2, British soldier, who refused to use a gun and fought with a long sword and bow instead because they were the weapons of true gentlemen. He was pretty effective with them but got captured. Due to his surname he was kept as a prisoner assuming to be related to the prime minister. He wasn't, saved his life =P There are some fun stories like this they could play with if they want to pursue a lighthearted approach.

Of course some of the naysayers would immediately yell that stories like that are unique and rare case . I don't see why the cast shown thus far can't be accepted likewise as some fun oddity . It's not at all as if the trailer showed a whole army of the weird , despite the clear bombastic action movie tone

Just saw the trailer.

I like it.
I like the colors , i like the way it's presented
Seems like all the battlefield checkbox are there . I do wonder if the multiplayer will be that chaotic or if it'll be faster however.

Waiting for the inevitable dlc plan at over 150$ to have everything

But that was a nice trailer
DLCs will be free.

I REALLY don't see where people are getting Fortnite from, I'll tell you guys what I see. I see pretty much Bad Company 3 but it's just not called that.

Also for those doubting the trailer saying "THATS CG OMG NO GAMEPLAY" have you played any other DICE game In recent memory on PC they look quite impressive almost to that scale.

Women are a different idea now
Lmao

OMG please dont do that and jump to stupid conclusions, you should be embarrassed with yourself.

Have you even bothered to read any of peoples posts... probably not, most people here dont care that its a woman, they are complaining about the game going for a totally different tone to what they expect. i.e in your face VO, face painting, katana sword, prosthetic arms... tonally some of us dont like that.

Now get off that high horse of yours and try not to be like the idiots trolling on the internet.

Those YouTube comments... Yeeeeeeesh!

Game seems fun. I kind of get the vibe that at some point it was a Bad Company game.

I get what you are saying, but thats more like the result of gameplay, rather than the result of design? Not sure if that makes sense, but from a design/selling point of view its different.

I'll speak to the trailer, because that's really all we've seen. We know that the characters featured in the gameplay are from the co-op campaign. We know this because they talked about co-op and specifically showed these characters. I think the big issue that you and others have is that it doesn't feel grounded.

From what they said about the game in the reveal, the War Stories seem to be where you'll get narrative that's more grounded in realism. Sure, they'll take liberties just like any other media, but I don't think it'll be what anything like what was shown in the trailer.

EA did a bad job at showcasing all parts of the game. They focused on these fun looking characters, then cranked the dial up to 11. I'd suggest holding out for feedback on the actual single-player stuff.

I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they see the multiplayer in two weeks. Until then, lets get all that bile out of your system.

I can't believe I'm having to do this in a reveal trailer thread of all places, but this thread is now temporarily locked.

Let's try and get this discussion and thread back on track by laying out a few ground rules.

It's fine to have differing opinions on the trailer and presentation of Battlefield V.

What isn't okay is defending the exclusion of female characters on grounds of historical accuracy. Doing so will get you banned for sexism. We aren't messing around with people trying to use their ignorance of history to defend their bigoted views.

Thread is reopen for discussion.

I mean, it's heavily scripted and planned out (like all BF trailers) but it's undoubtedly gameplay.

I become less and less convinced of that every time a watch it.

I feel like they're using some of the actual first-person animations, and it appears to be in-engine, but it doesn't look like gameplay. Animations are usually the giveaway, and here they are too polished - even after the HUD appears animations for things like an ally crouching to pick up and throw away a live grenade, all while on a slanted terrain, seems to be a purpose built animation.
