With them talking up fort(nite)ifications like this you'd think they'd actually put some in the trailer.

WW2 was a very dark and bloody time in history and the world wouldn't have been so vivid. I'm not saying the world was black in white like in the films because that wouldn't make sense but it's different and perceived differently. Probably somewhere in between Saving Private Ryan and Dunkirk if we were being realistic.

The overblown coloration of the trailer just kills any feeling of authenticity.
Color didn't change. You're using outdated cameras as your basis.

Go take a nap

Also lmao you just admitted your definition of "realism" is actually dictated entirely by movies.

So the planet earth just cosmically knows there's a war going down and desaturates the colors around it to keep the mood appropriate, is that what I'm getting from you?

Holy shit at people complaining about the lack of realism and tone. The game looks great and I'm loving the fact that they're going for visually unique characters instead of generic soldiers.

They show people putting up sandbags, right? It probably won't look like that in the game though, but everything seems to be alluding to the game's mechanics (moving around on your back, getting knocked, getting revived by a squadmate who isn't a medic).

A woman and a prosthetic arm = Overwatch now

To me, yup. Getting Overwatch and Fortnight vibes from this trailer, absolutely.

Please don't accuse me of being triggered or any such nonsense like that or I'm offended by women in games or something but yeah it is a tad eye rolly to see a woman not 2 seconds into a trailer for what I assume is a WW2 game.

Just looks a bit desperate for the diversity tickmark. Again, don't you dare try and say I'm against this stuff in principle.

The game very clearly has a chosen a certain tone, and what's in that trailer fits in that tone. I like it, and Dice has always sucked at writing serious stories so maybe this tone will fit better.

The trailer's also clearly showing unrealistic exagurated stuff to be cool, so the woman fits right in.

That being said, it's a massive tonal departure from a game that, some silly mechanics aside, has always tried to be somewhat authentic and gritty. Those are you claiming to be surprised by the negative reaction to it are being facetious.

Personaly I'm glad there's a woman in it. Could have done with her sounding a bit less like Tracer though, and the steampunk arm.

I'm sorry, but if your crying about the realism ends at "there weren't women in WW2" then you're straight up sexist. Because one there were women in WW2, and two there are a million more unrealistic things happening in this game

Just saw the trailer.

I like it.
I like the colors , i like the way it's presented
Seems like all the battlefield checkbox are there . I do wonder if the multiplayer will be that chaotic or if it'll be faster however.

Waiting for the inevitable dlc plan at over 150$ to have everything

But that was a nice trailer

They changed the tone of the game compared to the most recent entries in the series (if the trailer is representable of how the game will feel like), and some fans are bound to feel disappointed by that. I know that I am. What hidden agenda do you think I have?

The only actual difference is that there was a woman in this trailer and the outfits were slightly more extreme than what BF usually has. The tone and level of action is the same.

Watching the BF1 reveal trailer... ooph this one is just bad.

They should have shown off some variety, different maps, vehicles, some of those actual cool gameplay updates. This was terrible.

Wow look at that straw man.. It's not that color didn't exist but it wasn't the same. Why is this so difficult?

So from a scientific standpoint how would that work, are you saying that color pigments in living creatures and nature has somehow intensified and evolved in 73 years, and why did evolve and if so why did it evolve so fast and what are you smoking and can i have some?

This is how all reveal trailers should, open up with some cinematic action and then switch to gameplay.

Trailer looks good i guess but but all Battlefield trailers do.

I don't care about the characters in the trailer.

I just thought it was a bad trailer. Not representative of typical Battlefield gameplay and felt way too scripted.

I think we all know that battlefield gameplay was never aspiring to be realistic BUT it always tried to look authentic and thats the main reason people are asking for realism i guess.

This is what people seem to be missing. The problem with these choices has nothing to do with realism or accuracy, it's authenticity - the extent to which the setting is portrayed in a way that feels genuine, how much it overall feels like it's meant to be a WW2 setting as a whole. The tone of this is completely at odds with a WW2 setting, and while the Battlefield games usually have non-realistic elements included, this trailer is not in the same context as that - they aren't choices made by a player for the sake of gameplay where suspension of disbelief can easily apply, they're part of a trailer meant to indicate the tone and feeling of the setting in the context of an immersive WW2 game.

Can't even tell which posts are genuine criticism and what's meme sarcasm.

Game looks great and in the same spirit as most of the series starting from the super unrealistic and super fun BF1942.

I also like that the trailer shows more realistic gameplay. Not realistic like WW2, realistic like someone actually playing a game and shooting people left and right at a moment's notice.

Also wtf at people not recognizing a pretty realistic prosthetic and calling it steampunk. I mean, that's what Snake got before his sci-fi stuff in MGSV.

How is this like fortnite? The art style is.. well it's no where near.

And it's not like they just chucked this art style together in a matter of a few months (if it matched) because of fortnite, this was set in stone probably a year and a half ago.

The only thing i have a problem is the working prothestic arm, since thats the only non realistic thing i have seen, but If they want only a WW2 theme without any technological restriction they should Go Wolfenstein route or etc, not Just the arm.

Thats what i think
