I dunno, I was completely hooked into Westworld from episode 1 of the first season and loved everything but so far this season has felt weaker. I'm not gonna say it's bad, it ain't, but it also hasn't hooked me like season 1 did.
I would have been okay with another season in actual Westworld before we got to ROBOT CIVIL WAR tbh

The music when Dolores is being shown the city skyline when the episode opens was wonderful. More of that please.

I just hope season 2 doesn't have anyone as terribly acted and written as those two techs that Maeve was with in Season 1. Especially the one that wasn't learning to program with the bird. Good lord I hated every second he was on screen. Guy was like nails on a chalkboard.

I'm enjoying it but agree completely with other posters saying the mystery part is weaker/not needed this season after how the first Season played out that aspect.

What I don't understand is the few posters jumping on people with similar sentiments like mine to say they should have to justify how the feel and saying 'maybe it's not for you then' and 'stop posting unless it's something constructive'.

My take, Season 1 was quite interesting/very well made and I quite enjoyed it but it got baggy by the end. Especially with the obvious twists happening.

Season 2 (thus far) is quicker but still has remnants of the previous seasons mistakes, yet I still enjoy it. Crazy times!

Nobody should have to stop posting their opinions on the show as it progresses, in this thread, it's a forum.

I know I won't.

I will say that i thought the mysterious plot structure of season 1 was going to be replaced by a war but it seems we're back to new mysteries. I also found it weird that parts of the park don't even know anything has happened and they've just been playing out their storyline, makes it feel like the whole revolt was only really meaningful to a handful of the robits.

I'd hope each season doesn't just turn into them finding more mysteries.

it will
Angela and Ford describe the show in episode 2 of season 1
"No guidebook, figuring how it works is half of the fun"
"Guests don't come here for the thrills or the adventures, but for the details"

It's a mystery show and it will stay that way.

Look at episode 3 of season 1 when Teddy explain Wyatt to the sherif.
He describe season 2 events! It's kinda insane that they were so many details in season 1 explaining events of season 2. This will go that way until end of the show.
Although apparently many reviewers said the first two episodes are the weakest. I just got spoiled the first scene of episode 3 and i think everyone will go crazy lol

I really can't wait to rewatch this show once it completes. To pick up all the small details spread through the seasons.

Why would they change the show completely, they got a structure that worked. So much was not explained in season 1, so of course they are gonna have so much more to reveal.

The revolt just started, it's been how long since the events of the end of the S1 finale? We are seeing the revolt still happening right now. It's obviously a change from the OG movie where every robot in the park suddenly went nuts at the same exact time.

I felt a little bored with the first episode but loved the second one. It was beautiful and I loved the flashbacks. My favorite scene is the private demonstration they do for Logan (by the way, when he talks to Dolores and he's drugging himself, he says things that made me think if he opposed to Westworld - or its hidden purpose and was pushed away from the company, with his father favoring William instead). Btw, the young William in the flashbacks felt a little fake, but maybe this was intentional (to show what he was trying to be).

In the flashbacks, I felt really uncomfortable how Dolores looked so vulnerable (the dresses only accentuated it). But it was a great counterpoint to what she is becoming now. Loved her encounter with Maeve too (she is my favorite).

I think the second episode got better about investing the audience emotionally in the characters, something that in my opinion this show is really bad at. I didn't care for anybody except Maeve the whole first season. And I think that especially for TV this is a crucial point to assure its survival. You don't even need to have likable characters, just must keep people interested in what's going to happen to them (look at the 1st season of True Detective, for example).

Enjoying it so far. Looking forward to the next episode and to what that place is.

Westworld is at its best as a mystery action show. It has a big budget and can do really cool little mysteries and details and awesome big setpieces. I hope they lean as far into that direction as possible.

Because the bad Shakespeare quoting monologues about the nature of humanity are cringeworthy

It's curious you don't like Dolores guys

I'm not sure Delores is supposed to be particularly likeable at this point in time... I have a feeling there's more in her future than just murder rampage.

The city beautiful
Finally watched the first two episodes and am not really liking this season. S1 was mysterious and great, this is just a boring drag.

I'll let the season play out and watch an episode or two more at the end to see if I want to finish watching.

Yeah I got a kick out of the idea that Ford was some real asshole who only gave sentience and agency to a handful of robots while keeping the rest enslaved. Granted they're doing it to make these scenes more interesting but it comes at the expense of any logic behind the robot revolt.

I also can't get over that this season is making the man in black go on another maze hunt...again. Let's hope this doesn't end in a similar fashion as it did with season 1 where it turned out it was nothing.

Who the fuck doesn't love Dolores
I mean I struggle to think why anyone would. She pretty much is just a personality less psycho murderer this season and last season she was just a robot on a program doing whatever the tech guys made her.

Two episodes in and so far this isn't a patch on the first season. Everything's taken a hit, from writing to direction to budget.

I'm just so glad I like anime. I just don't 'feel' this nearly as much in anime shows, whereas TV shows really start to show when they're having budget restraints due to lowering popularity. Even in GOT, which I'd say is about 50% of 'movie quality'.

Meanwhile I'm watching Fullmetal Panic: Invisible Victory, with giant robots depicted in a very dark sci-fi kind of way, and is at the same time way more entertaining (imo). Too bad the west doesn't see animation as anything but a kids medium.

Yea I just watched Ep 1-2 of Season 1 with my wife recently...and I just don't see what people are saying in terms of the first 2 episodes of Season 2 being worse.

Like at all.

If anything, Season 1 doesn't hit its stride till episode 4/5

You REALLY should watch episode 3-5
According to many critics, the take off will begin in the next episode and will achieve summit the season 1 never had. If you want to hype more, here two spoilers:
Welcome to Rajworld
A whole episode in Shogunworld

Episode 4 is more than an hour and it's the first episode directed by Showrunner Lisa Joy.

People don't understood what MIB does.
Ford gave to him a new game: The door.
But MIB dn't give a shit. He kills young Ford and he's recruiting because he wants to destroy what he created in the park to spy the guests. He said he created a place of judgement in Westworld, and apparently someone used it against him, so now he wants to destroy it.

I think the main issue we have is this:
MIB wants host to be free. Then he wants to destroy the (data?) judgement place. No connection between season 1 and 2 , it's almost like after doing one quest MIB does another.
Which made me think...MIB might be a host.

What William show to Dolores at episode 2 is what William want to destroy now.
he's not going after the door, it's just Ford trolling him in every way possible
It's like a PNJ give you a quest, you want to do a side-quest but BECAUSE of the quest, you CAN'T have minions to help to your side quest

Resume:
Dolores wants the weapon
MIB wants to destroy it.
They are going to the same point.

The Door? A new game but MIB don't care (for now)

Me too (well not the Reddit part lol...I want to
keep my theories exposure to just this thread :P) I think this season is going to get crazier and crazier

I'm little afraid that too much plot twist make many people angry.
This show is Memento*100000 .
It's logical that we uncover layers and layers of this universe and that's the point of the show (have you ever questionned your reality?)

But i'm still assuming people (notably in Resetera) were hyped by season 2 because they believed in a tv show turned into HBO Kingdom hearts when Paulie fight against Jon Snow against Dolores against Samurai guy against Julius Caesar against Matthew McConaughey in True Detective

Recap about episode 2 storylines:
*Bernard is with Charlotte trying to find Peter Abernathy who contain 35 years of Delos data
*Dolores/Wyatt is with Teddy to go after a weapon that William show her 35 years ago
*Maeve is with Hector and Lee, to find Maeve daughter (we need a name ASAP xD)
*William is with Lawrence trying to find the place he created to spy guests, to destroy it because someone used it against him (the weapon?)
*FLASHFORWARD: 12 days later, Bernard with Delos Avengers trying to understand wtf happened in this "valley" that turned into a lake.

Screw those people

They can go watch many other shows that aren't presented as puzzle pieces if it bothers them so much.

I love it.

Especially fitting in a futuristic show positing the AI NPC's from a human constructed RPG virtual reality game becoming sentient.
