Top 5 for me (so far; still a lot of stuff I need to catch up on):
1. FF14 Stormblood expansion
2. Night in the Woods
3. Super Mario Odyssey
4. NieR Automata
5. Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Something interesting about this year: This has been a year in which a big chunk of the enjoyment I get from a game comes from watching the experiences other folks have with it. Breath of the Wild is a great game on its own, but the way that systems interact as part of the gameplay meant lots of videos and streams of folks showing off innovative new techniques for flying, sailing, etc. I got a big kick out of that stuff, so much that I can't think about where the game sits in my ranking without considering that element. It's sort of how Super Mario Maker was one of my favorite games of 2015 even though I didn't actually own it.
