I still like TTE a lot, but I too wish that Ian and Huber had made new characters. I guess it's cool that we'll get to see level 20 skills, but when season 3 rolls out, the show needs a full refresh.

I was watching Damiani stream where he shows his new equipments for the stream. I absolutely aprove but.... he said he's gonna get a green screen to use... I hope this doesn't spread to the other allies.

Is that an unpopular opinion? I don't like the chroma key, much prefer the cam little boxes.

Still, super nice that he's improving his setup. And Kyle had new lightings this past week too.

I like green screens if it's a transparent background simply for more space to work with on screen.

That's what happens when Kojima worshiping happens
Nah, that's what happens when Kyle insists they play a game most of the group aren't interested in.

I do think it's disappointing they couldn't give it a fair shake (even if I don't have much interest in it myself) but I don't think the group stream environment was the right place for that to happen anyway.

Depends what it's used for. Huber Syndrome with the green screen is a huge improvement over the old episodes without it, for example.

I WILL FIGHT ANYONE WHO SUGGESTS BIRDCOUGH IS TAKEN AWAY FROM ME OR SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN TABLETOP.

Also Villiand, Pomper and Potbelly being too pure for this world and Ian's one liner in combat made everyone wonderful.

I'm pro-green screen. One of the biggest problems with EZA streams is the ridiculous amount of space that is dedicated to anything other than the game: The Dragon Ball Fighters stream was particularly bad for this.

The thing is, any time you're trying to keep the camera from overlapping the game, you're going to be left with extra space to fill. Plus, it really is good to have dedicated space for things like our logo and subs. I think the new design I have going is a good compromise for the solo streams, but I gave Damiani some feedback today on the recent group stream layouts - which are even tougher since you need to fit in 8 people with the wide shot.

It's not a simple problem to solve, for sure. I think for a lot of games though it is better to have some overlap, with more space for the game. Obviously this isn't possible where vital information is on-screen in all four corners.

I just don't like anything visual being layered on top of gameplay footage, chroma keyed or not. If you use a facecam, I prefer it being embedded into the layout surrounding the gameplay video.

Coincidentally, my top three favourite active streamers pretty much never even use a camera.

The ideal solution would be two group cams IMO, with a closer shot of the couch and the back bench moved over to the side with their own cam. But I'm guessing you guys probably would've already tried that if it were easy to set up in Jones' garage.

So I'm catching up on the latest Frame Trap and there's a moment like an hour in where Ben refers to Frieza from DBZ as a she and I had to do a double take to make sure I heard correctly. Did they really change Frieza into a female for the American dub? How come?

They didn't. The original Funimation dub gave Frieza a voice that made many think he was a woman, though.

It took me a while to figure out whether Frieza was supposed to be a man or a woman when I originally watched dbz. Must have been listening to Linda Young.

The podcast isn't public until friday, that's why. And last week it felt like a bit and some people here were still hoping that Kyle wasn't serious.

If these people don't want to be spoiled, they need to cough up some Patreon money like the rest of us!

I support them on patreon and often times don't end up watching until friday because it takes me that long to get caught up with the weeks content: frame trap/friend code, group stream, tabletop and then I finally watch the podcast on Friday afternoon after work.

I don't mind "spoilers" though because it seems like a pretty extreme thing to ask for in a thread about easy allies.

That's why Huber keeps saying "he" lol

I guess even in the original VA, Freeza still sounds like a woman and does the noble woman's laugh.

Really loved the episode, even though I had known most of the info since reading about it on Daizenshuu EX like a decade ago.

Keep up the great work Damiani and co!

Okay no seriously, as the most Spoiler-Sensitive person on this planet after Michael Huber with MGS, if you care about Spoilers for a Video Game Podcast, that's on YOU. It's not on the world to bend to your idiosyncrasy, it's on YOU. You don't want to be "spoiled"? Don't come into the thread until you've listened to it. Or don't read anything before you make a post and interact with the people who respond directly to you. But at that level on being spoiler-sensitive, it's on you to do the dodging. Cause I can understand caring enough about the podcast to want to be surprised by it (that's pretty much my case as well which is why I listen as soon as it drops) but let's not prevent people from discussing something once it is officially available. (Hell in Shonen Jump manga threads we discuss the illegal chapters on Fridays and it's the people who want to wait for the official release on Monday who bow out)

------

Not a fan of green-screens either. I don't want stuff overlapping with the game feed.

Not sure why this bothers you. The podcast isn't out for non-patrons yet, there are definitely people who post here and aren't patrons or aren't at the $5 tier. There's no reason they should have to avoid coming here to discuss, say, Frame Trap, Tabletop, or a group stream just because they don't get another show early. It doesn't hurt anyone to use the spoiler tags, we can have the exact same discussion we'd have without them while also not forcing anyone to avoid the thread for 2-3 days. Everybody wins.

Yep, it's just a nice courtesy. I don't freak out if I see discussions about a podcast/show I haven't gotten to yet, but I always appreciate it when people take the time to spoiler things.

It's just that at that level of extreme spoiler sensitivity, it's not on others to adapt to your quirk. When I'm on media-blackout for games, I don't head into pre-release threads and tell people not to discuss the trailers because I personally don't watch them until I'm done with the game and go back.
If you want to give your thoughts on some other EZA thing, just post without reading the thread and interact with poss directly quoting you. That's what people do in other threads when they're not where the rest of the thread is.

It's like how Kyle wanted to discuss the SotC and Monster Hunter trademarks before the Sony conference and told the people who didn't want to know to leave and come back when the conference started because that kind of spoiler-sensitivity is too intense for him. It's perfectly fine to want to be surprised by a conference's announcements just like it's fine to want to be surprised by the content of a podcast you love (again, I'm very spoiler-sensitive and I identify with both feelings) but in both cases, it's on you to deal with your idiosyncrasy and dodge the stuff, not on others.

Edit: If you spoiler-tag it's fine but I really don't think anyone should freak out if someone doesn't spoiler-tag. (Edit2: Which admittedly no one has done lol. This whole dumb thing started with me being surprised with demu's spoiler-tagged post lol so I apologize)

So, as many, I loved the latest Frame Trap. Good vibes, nice game talk, interesting topic for the hottake, fun FT game (Sonic names part 2 needs to happen with Kyle!). I also wasn't ready to how close it would hit.

It was released on the same day I finally took the effort and courage to take a leave of absence from college, even though I should've graduated last year and keep failing to complete the last couple credits needed. And Kyle talks about the effects of antidepressants - taking agency of your own mind, being able to focus and actually do and complete stuff - effects I desperately need, though I've been avoiding actually going after antidepressants for months (I've been doing therapy since last year), both to be able to graduate and to go back to my creative projects. Couple of game ideas stopped during the first stages, an art project on halt for more than a year, even though I had some success with it and got a lot of joy doing it. Keep expanding the research I've started with my undergrad thesis (probably the last thing I've completed that gave me pleasure). Not to mention people actually asked me to write about comics and games (and I really have been wanting to do that for the longest time anyway) but I simply can't start, even though there is a lot I want to speak about both mediums (and sometimes do, in informal conversations).

So, yeah. Kinda just wanted to get this off my chest. Kyle talking about it helps me to get a tiny bit more of courage to seek out this extra set of help I've been needing for the longest time.

was proud to be apart of that lol

EDIT:
And in regards to the spoiler talk, I can understand both sides of the coin.
Tagging is a nice gesture, I agree.
But sometimes on mobile, tagging is difficult for me. Shit gets mixed up and somehow a bracket gets deleted and then I have to go back and edit and then that's a hassle.

Let's just not flip out over not spoiler tagging, plz

Lol between the review scores thing and the spoiler thing, I think this thread needs a fresh, jolly topic...how would you guys like to see the Allies handle E3 this year?

I mostly want them to upload their conference commentaries and end of day discussions on podcast services.

Oh and...I guess I'm good if they don't dress up for the conferences. Or at least just keep it at a shirt with rolled up sleeves lol. I imagine the garage must get pretty hot lol

Boo. I love the Spiffy Allies.

For real, though, I'm not sure what new things I could think of that would make the E3 coverage even better since I love how they do it now.

Putting everything up on the podcast services would be a nice addition.

Huber has to get better talking about games without spoilers!
It's ironic that the guy who's among the most sensitive about spoilers among the group is going "ok, I'm going to spoil this part..." in almost every discussion on every podcast right away. I don't mind most of the time but some of the stuff he spoils can easily be talked around.

I was going to say the opposite. Allies need to be more open and talk about the whole game, instead of constantly going, can I spoil this, can I talk about this. They aren't going to do spoiler modes for all games so just talk about the game openly so we know your thoughts. Rather than some surface level talk about the game.

If someone has an issue they can skip the section and come back when they finish it. Most of the time they are jumping around spoilers for games because a few people who probably will never play it are gonna complain

I'd be fine with none of the allies dressing up for E3. Except Ben. He needs to be in character and in costume as Benzilla during every conference for no particular reason other than I think it'd be amusing. And the only time he is allowed to break character is if either a spider is shown or Persona 6 gets announced.

Yeah can't think of much myself. I love their E3 coverage so much I rewatch them over and over (well, more like put them in the background while playing a game).

Maybe don't bother with the "This is what this company did at E3 last year" thing if it's also gonna be done in the podcasts that are done before. I don't really mind it myself but it could be seen as redundant.

I feel usually when he does that on FT he gives a fair warning. With Kingdom Come it was a bit abrupt lol so someone who may have wanted to skip ahead would've had to rush to their phone.

NO.

I'm serious. Dressing up for the part is one part of what makes E3 special. Don't change it a bit.

edit: Honestly, they should double down and make the Hall of Greats a black tie event.

It's weird. Their idea of trying to keep adding stuff to FF XV has made me quit the game and I wanted to wait until the game was done. I was thinking of playing it further sometime this year, but I guess I will probably hold off.
I have played quite some hours, but I am only in chapter 2 or 3 if I remember correctly (started it when the game came out, but stopped after I heard they were going to add extra story or change the story).
I enjoyed what I played, but to me personally this way of releasing a game makes me probably not playing it (and not buying a game releasing like this in the future) instead of keep playing it.

Is the main story finished now (except for the extra DLC, which doesn't bother me as much if it's only this type of stuff they release afterwards), or did they still not finish it completely (I thought they were going to redo some chapters or something)?

(started it when the game came out, but stopped after I heard they were going to add extra story and because an other game came out (I think Yakuza 0))

I was gonna be like "DUUUDE...no waayyy" but then I remembered that it was just me who got to Yakuza 0 in April but otherwise the game came out in January lol.

But yeah the main story's done so if that's what's keeping you out you can jump in.

I already removed it because I am not 100% sure if it was Yakuza or why I actually stopped. I know the story thing was a big reason.
I have an insane backlog and a lot of long games I really want to play this year (Ni No Kuni II, Yakuza 6 and Read Dead Redemption 2 to name a few), but maybe I will have time to play it sometime this year.
Currently playing Persona 4 Golden which I hope I can finish before Ni No Kuni II comes out (but I am quite sure I will be able to).

Thanks for the info btw, I didn't really pay a lot of attention to FF XV any more. I knew they have released a lot of DLC and a lot of free content and patches, but I wasn't sure about the actual story.
