The fight against the giant magma talus in death mountain was amazing,

Hope BotW 2 has more stuff like that.

Omg you can summon the bike in hyrule castle lmao (past the main gate). I just rode the main path all the way to the Castle Sanctum.

I love this thing.

Lol, its almost been a year since release and the game is still surprising people
All the bosses in this game are fascinating to hear people talk about, because each of the bosses have a traditional Zelda style "puzzle solution" but you can also just brute force them as well.
It's a Zelda game, the boss is more of a puzzle than a brute force combat contest.

So this isn't a campaign and I can save my money?

Yep. It's really just for people that loved the game want more shrine quests and shrines and the one new divine beast and boss. The cut scenes are nothing special and can always be YouTubed.

I'm one who liked, but didn't love, the game and kind of wish I hadn't bought the DLC. But it is a fair amount of content for people who like the content. I didn't care for the trials in DLC1 and I'm pretty meh on dlc2 half way or a bit more through it.

Thanks

I'm not much of a trial or challenge person. I don't buy DLC that is mostly just challenge based, and only usually care about campaign content.

The Divine Beasts were far from my favourite parts of the game.

If they release a complete edition, I'll get it when I get a Switch and play it that way.

Having tried it yet myself, but apparently you can
hang up the Champion photo Kass gives you in Link's home.
That's quite awesome will do that right now.
Bike pretty cool tbh and yes you can summon it easily. It does run on fuel tho but you can use any inventory item to fuel it with.

You first have to go through the challenges and dungeon (the main dlc content) tho to access the bike tho.

Also, I've been having a lot of fun (not) with the blood moon during the DLC.

Clear an encounter and am going to collect all the loot. Blood moon strikes. All loot is gone.

Clear an enemy camp. Right before the shrine pops up, I get blood mooned. Enemy camp has completely respawned.

Waiting for dragon. Dragon shows up. Ready to do the thing. As I'm gliding towards it, blood moon. Dragon is gone. The next time it shows up, my arrows go through it. Had to reset multiple times to fix that glitch.
Weird, I had a blood moon which didn't have any effect when I was doing that trial.

Yes you can summon the bike whenever you want and you can also now summon horses whenever with the new ancient horse armour.

Okay that's great, I'm in.

God dam looks like im just picking up Zelda then.

Keep in mind the rest of my rant. I had expectations for story, and they weren't met at all. If I had never played BotW, and I was going through the main game, had just finished the main dungeons, I'd probably be eager to play this DLC. Just don't expect great story.

Now that I'm nearly done, these are the best shrines in the game. So many of these shrines remix multiple mechanics that I wasn't expected to be paired together. Some really inventive stuff. It almost feels like a series of Master Quest shrines.

Just FYI for the people who finished the content. Journals/diaries for the champions become available in their respective towns afterwards, as well as new dialogue options with key racial characters.

Personally, I feel like there's a lot more content in this DLC compared to trial of the sword, but not as difficult.

When did you first beat them though? It's tolerable since I haven't done it in months, but there are bound to be folks who have to end up beating the same bosses twice within a one week span. I would be pretty frustrated if that were the case.

Is this the Ganon bosses? I just finished my 4th beast this week and just bought the dlc. I can't see them being that bad, they were pretty easy first time through. Arrows, sword.

Definitely go read the champion's diaries after completing the dlc story content, people.

Someone get Link the Ocarina of Time so we can try and prevent the Calamity from happening in the first place. Can this be the next DLC please?!?!?

Oh, you can actually read the diaries and talk to the affiliated characters before doing any of their shrine trials. I would probably recommend ppl talk to them & read the diary first, too, if they haven't already completed an area. It's nice getting the bit of context before the scenes. :)

I must have cheesed it then lol. There was tha shrine where you had to climb up to the goal by moving the metallic cube platforms. The whole path I made was covered with eletricity so I just cheesed it with the lightning helm.
That's funny, you definitely brute forced it compared to what the game hints at you to do.

Wind blight Ganon went down with no fuss on the first try. Very happy after my struggles with Thunder and Water blights.

I actually thought Thunderblight was a lot easier than Windblight because I was able to do so much more damage with the weapons they give you. Plus, I guess it's different with the regenerating health.

Just finished my first boss. On my first try but with a freaking hair of life by the end, really intense stuff. So far this DLC seems a bit more of the same but at least has a nice structure and the shrines are really good, maybe some of the best yet.

What happens after beating all 4 bosses? Is there something else?

A new Divine Beast type dungeon with a new boss. Easily the highlight of the DLC.

Well then, looks like this DLC was worth it then :)

Think I'll probably hit the 200hr mark by the end of this. That's really incredible for me, i don't think i ever played a game for more than 100 hours before even. Also, coming back to this game after 4 months feels really good, I bet it will be interesting to replay it completely in a few good years from now.

I haven't done them yet, but I've heard you can cheese one of the Death Mountain trials with the right armor, too.

Maaaan the DLC is a big disappointment so far.

The first part is more annoying than anything else. I resorted to bow and arrow instead of using the weapon, most of the time. Very, very annoying to be insta-killed by an archer or a cloud of bats.

And then you have to explore the same old world and same old bosses. Big, big letdown.

I´d put it in one of the biggest disappointments of the year so far alongside titles like Destiny 2 and For Honor.

Its weird, I figured with so much more empty space on the map and areas that remain dark would be areas that the dlc would add into the game.

I know some people are really enjoying it, but I do hope the criticisms toward it aren't ignored by Nintendo.

As much as I love the DLC, there are things that need to be addressed in the next game, no doubt. I also think Nintendo should create a more fleshed-out expansion for the next game. And if they need to charge $40 for it, so be it.

It's my own fault for letting my imagination run wild with hopes for the possibilities of this dlc. I felt like there was so much potential to add creative and surprising content.

On one hand, this dlc is what I would have expected as an expansion considering the majority of what BOTW had to offer. Yet I couldn't help dreaming for more. I'm so glad people are enjoying it but with the talent at its helm I can't say I'm that impressed with what the dlc had to offer.

I just really hoped the dungeon was going to be in the style of past games dungeons. Especially since most complaints about the main game came from missing classic style dungeons.

Oh well, I really hope they return next Zelda.

The last shrine is just, like 4 shrines put together. I don't even think it's the biggest dungeon. I was really good, though.

Here are 2 versions of the group shot from the ending.

I definitely expected more out of this DLC, but overall I had a good time. Still need to get the new costume items as well.

The group shot at the end was really cute, and the Master Cycle Zero is just fantastic. It's much faster than just running, doesn't use up stamina and you can drive up mountains (some of them at least, haven't tried the super steep ones yet). Made everything worth it lol.

I found Windblight easy in this one as you had a lot of arrows so easy to just glide and slow motion shoot in the eye three times to stun over and over until dead. Thunderblight my issue was the scimitar always broke and it was harder to get in hits with the other big, slow sword they gave you.

I just took down Fireblight. That was still the easiest of the four to me by far, like the main game.

Anyone else get a laugh out of the fire shrine where you have to dodge all of the flame spouts? I wonder if the devs forgot about the armor you are most likely wearing (assuming upgrades).

Just beat the Garudo boss again after my weapon breaking the first time. I realized something very useful for the rematches:

While they only give you a few edibles during the fight, if you use food buffs before re-entering the divine beasts, the effect still carries over. So if you have problems with weapons breaking, use an attack buff before starting the fight
