I wouldn't be surprised if he got off with a slap in the wrist, unfortunately.

He should do a few years, easily, and he defintely needs to be put on a register.

I mean, the specifics don't really matter all that much here

if they were in a relationship or just friends, she said no and luckily it was reported

The specifics matter when the outcome of this affects the guy's entire life. The only testimony we have is from guys who heard something on an open mic. Would that be enough for a court of law? I have no clue, but I do think we should wait on the victim's testimony before jumping to conclusions.

I mean, it's the report from the witness and the victim together

most of the time the victim doesn't even have a witness to come forward in situations like this

As weird and awkward as it sounds, but good this idiot piece of trash let the microphone on so she got witnesses and the court more evidence. I hope he gets a serious prison sentence but isn't released a single day earlier the girl stops needing psychotherapeutic treatment.

Seriously this sickens me. How less of a empathy that guy must have to treat another human being that way and 15 minutes later return to play your game elike nothing happened. What a piece of shit.

I mean, a witness who heard the victim say 'no' mid rape is pretty damning evidence

I'm happy for someone who hears "no" mid sex and carries on to have their life ruined

It took a bit for me to understand it was something happening in the real world with him leaving the microphone on... at start I thought it was something related to the virtual game world... :|
Glad they got him, hope she is ok.
I don't think the only thing they have is someone hearing something on the microphone, there is also what she is saying to the police, and im sure they will have more proof to find out if he really was doing something bad to her, I don't understand why people should defend him... police knows how to do their work.

This whole "guilty until proven innocent" mindset that most of the world has baffles me and I'm glad this callousness doesn't transfer to the courts.

In what world does it make sense to disregard specifics in an un/partially investigated case?

If the guy is guilty based on evidence other than an open microphone in an online game, such as cross examination of testimony, physical evidence and other investigative legwork that I confess not to be an expert in then damn him to all hell.

But never should you disregard the specifics of a criminal case especially in a system where almost 5% of death row inmates are found to be innocent at any length of time after their sentencing.

I think they were saying the specifics of their relationship are not important, the rape isn't any better or worse if they were friends or dating or whatever

That isn't important, it was rape, that's what is important, not their relationship

Props to whomever called the authorities, hopefully the audio and video of the incident was recorded by somebody so it can be used in court against the rapist. With the evidence broadcasted live and the statement from the victim this should be a pretty open and shut case that'll end up with the attacker in question getting prison time and a spot on the sex offender's register.

I'd rather celebrate the hero than talk about the other dude.

I wonder who the person is, hopefully they get rewarded. People need to take action if they see/hear/know something.

We have a statement from the victim, we have an impartial witness corroborating. I think that's enough for us to make conclusions. The court of law is a separate matter. And if you truly care about the victim in this case (which I don't think you do) there is also a police report corroborating her statement, as has been posted here. So what's your endgame here?

It's nice to see that it wasn't just ignored and someone called the cops. Now he can think about what a horrible human being he is in jail hopefully for many years.

Endgame? The hell are you talking about? I'm simply saying let's have the facts besides an open mic before I sign up for this witch-hunt. I had no idea we had a statement from the victim, I was just going by what was in the OP at the time. Seems like it's been edited since then.

Fuck you Florida man. The most disturbing part is how he goes back to casually playing the game. It tells me that this dude has done this before and possibly that no one came forward to report the crimes.

How did police find him? Was the player that reported it, a friend? I'm guessing they would have had to go through Sony for his info by using his username?

The irony of yelling "wait for the facts" and you can't even be bothered to read the article.

You could have just read the article instead of calling this a witch hunt and immediately looking for reasons to doubt the story and the victim. It's really short. And it even references this from another article :

A medical exam supported her claim and DNA tests eventually identified Fabian as the suspect.

I'm really glad that this was reported and I hope that he ends up in jail for a long time.

I mean I read the snippets that OP highlighted. It's still more than a lot of users here who post without even reading the title correctly. It's also been edited since then, as I said.

I only edited the section to clarify why the title was tweaked, and a mod edited the mod post into the OP

The quotes have not been edited or added too at all, and as per the sites rules I didn't post the entire body of text from the article because that's against the forums terms and conditions

Interesting word choice.

All you had to go on from the link in the OP was that the victim told the police she was raped and that someone else heard it happen.

I mean I read the snippets that OP highlighted. It's still more than a lot of users here who post without even reading the title correctly. It's also been edited since then, as I said.

Really not going to back down on this and admit you were wrong, huh? I guess that would be like admitting that you're obviously coming at this shit with a pretty clear agenda.

Disgusting. But why was she in his house to begin with? Are they in a relationship and he forced himself on her that night? We don't know all the details. He's a pedophile sex offender though for sure.

It's telling you immediately went to this given your subsequent posts in this thread. Straight to the victim blaming.

Respect for the one reporting this but I assume he knew that shitstain?
I'm confused how calling the cops telling you heard something while playing a videogame and having nothing but a username might have lead to this result.

Maybe this should be added to the OP:

"News Channel 8 has learned that Fabian is also charged with raping another teen on June 4th, weeks before the most recent case..

"He was arrested in June for another case involving a different 15-year-old girl, where he allegedly raped her in his home as well," said Kevin Doll, Pasco Sheriff's Office spokesman."

How the hell wasn't he in jail already?

If you just know the username, I'm sure the police can get all the other details themselves by contacting Sony/PSN (name/ip address/maybe even messages and voice communications).

Have you been paying attention to how our courts and the general public treat accusations like this? We just put a man on the Supreme Court whose behavior would be considered deeply troubling in any sane society. No, we don't yet live in a world where we can reasonably expect rapists to be punished for their actions.

What does it matter why she was there or who she was to him? You're skirting damn close to victim blaming with a comment like that.

Honestly can never understand rapers? Like sex is passionate and everything but it's so much about giving and receiving, trying to please each other, I can never understand how u even get aroused if the other person is not into it??

Just what?!! But I guess it's good I don't understand that mindset, it's the mindset of a bad guy...smh

It's not about sex, it's about exerting power over others.
