DCEU fans have dug themselves in so deep they're going to actually make themselves hate the good DCEU movies as a way to keep fighting for Snyder's honor

amazing
From my time observing these idiots, they seem to inhabit two distinct tribes.

Camp A, the Snyder-ites, bow before their fake God and see any and all attempts to steer from his teachings as hashtag sacrilege. This tribe will likely see the movie and secretly enjoy it, but scream on Twitter after the fact anyway as any attempt to replicate a working will be considered pandering as the MCU is too full of jokes for them. Also every tweet ends in a hashtag. And you know which hashtag.

Camp B, the ficklers, will be found in every MCU early impression Twitter thread, posting memes about critics overusing the word 'Fun', and obviously being paid shills, who have been bought out by Disney to hate the DCEU. From what I can see, this is the camp who are (Rightly) happy about all of the critics giving praise to Aquaman! Albeit ignoring the irony that every review is liberally using that 'Fun' word they didn't previously seem to like very much..

in retrospect I found Furious 7 to be a better flick than 8 tbh. if Lin isn't comin back to the franchise get Wan back if they make another one

Yeah. Initially I thought Furious 7 was a step down from Fast 5/6. But Fate 8 was pretty damn dull and showed it isn't easy to follow a formula. And Wan and crew had to contend with one of the actors passing away and making it work. Wan did great, all told. I'd put 6 and 7 side by side, both below the king Fast 5.

But I don't know if I'd want Wan or Lin back. With Rock doing his spin-off, the familia is in shambles. Don't know what Fast 9 could do to boost the profile, short of bringing Han and Gisele back.

Well to calm this down, and honestly make it tolerable for me to read.

1. Let's stop going after folks for their past history unless relevant to the thread/discussion.
2. Anyone is free to come in and say that impressions were positive for BvS/JL, BUT they must provide tweets from these same writers for us to compare, and not just blanket statement and dipping.

Quite a few reputable film critics and editors have vouched for Aquaman. Even the geeky comic book sites are verified on RT(which you will use to judge a movie instead of seeing it)

Whoa breh. We don't claim these Synder acolytes.

They're like that cousin your grandma always invites to family gatherings even though no one else wants them there cause they're obnoxious and they steal.

There are reasonable people who liked the darker tone, and at least wanted to see the conclusion of that unreliable Superman arc in a way that actually had the character make a redeeming choice.
I have no idea if Snyder Justice League would have given me that. Signs point to "no." I just know studio second-guessing gave me JL, the most embarrassing movie in the entire lineup.

Good or bad, I just would have preferred to see the natural conclusion he had in mind, instead of the Superfriends premier that I got.
We didn't have to turn into an anti-media conspiracy-theory whackjob just because we disagreed with the majority of opinions about some cape flicks. Snyder is not an alt-right gateway...

...turns out a bunch of people out here were just looking for any excuse.

You can look at my Reset/Neogaf account and see I've been championing Wan the entire time lol... so I'm not really sure where you're getting at.

I don't care if you are a cheerleader or not. Im just making jokes. I was just recalling one particular poster who took it to a whole other hilarious level. People get so defensive about stuff that ultimately doesn't matter at all.

You have a Hal Jordan avatar, the one true lantern, so you're alright in my books.

That's cool breh.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with liking Synder's direction, and I've always thought it was gross how so many openly mocked people who enjoyed his DC films. That said, the fanbase definitely went way the fuck left at some point. Like a mini version of whatever the hell is going on with Star Wars fans atm.

Snyder's ass is gone and DC is turning it around? Only people who are surprised are trolls. The problems with the DCU all stem from Snyder, not the characters. Superman and Batman have both found success with other people across a wide range of mediums, but in Snyder's hands flopped hard.

Good for Aquaman. I hope Wan kills the hate for the character with a kickass movie. Aquaman is a great character despite what the memes would have you believe.

Are some people using the term "fun" as a negative in this thread?

You know that's the only reason anyone goes to see these types of movies right?

The thing is when a Marvel movie is labeled as fun, it's because Marvel movies are fun. Apparently when DC films are called fun it's meant to be a sly way of saying the story is bad but there are jokes now. Or that's what I learned in this thread; either way I am excited for this movie Wan is a great director and I have been a fan of aquaman since I was like 5.

I'm thinking Aquaman, Spiderverse and Bumblebee are all gonna cannibalize each other's box office...
Mary Poppins is nipping at the heels too. Know it's not 100% the same audience, but I think people will be surprised at how broad of an audience Poppins will bring in.

Speaking as a Brit I mean. Mary Poppins pretty much is Christmas here, thanks to it getting put on BBC on the day like every year.

They're playing an extended trailer for this with what seems like a full action scene
running through the rooftops fighting those dudes in the diver-looking suits with the red glass masks, sort of like that Bourne chase scene with Desh
.
Looks super fakey and derivative. Not super excited about this, but the social media impressions give me hope that it'll be a fun ride, at least.
Love Momoa.

It sucks because all of these movies look interesting which will making choosing which ones to see hard.

Have there been any reactions from actual critics and not comic book geeks like Brandon Davis or Germain? Like, if Ehrlich weighed in and gave it a positive review I'd be more convinced.

I might watch it on a plane someday.

Kinda done with middling super hero flicks

Phase 1 marvel movie? Seems like it's 10 years late.
