VENOM DOMESTIC OW: $81.0M
FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 DOMESTIC OW: $62.0M
AQUAMAN DOMESTIC OW: $78.0M
So how many more FB movies were they planning, 5? That's gonna change fast.
They were planning that many? Damn I figured a trilogy would be stretching things out.
From my prediction on this:
https://www.resetera.com/threads/fa...contest-venom-fantastic-beasts-aquaman.60909/
VENOM DOMESTIC OW: $96.0M
FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 DOMESTIC OW: $55.0M
AQUAMAN DOMESTIC OW: $43.0M
Overestimated Venom, Underestimated Fantastic Beasts, different from what others probably thought that would play out though.
Only $1 million off. All comes down to Aquaman for you.
The global start for this pic is higher than FB1 which was close to $220M, with foreign repping 71% of its final $814M WW tally.
This thread is like the perfect testing ground to see who actually reads OPs and articles and who just reads the thread title (though I have to admit the thread title IS pretty misleading)
Because Fantastic Beasts 2 was actually more successful than the first movie worldwide. 250 Million compared to 220 Million with the first. So while they did open lower by 13 million in the states, they actually opened 43 million dollar higher internationally. Those 3 Fantastic Beasts movies left are going nowhere.

Is Venom 2 already confirmed? If not, it's probably gonna happen any day now. Who saw this massive success coming lol
It was probably for the best that the main series films got other people to do the screenwriting. JK Rowling seems to be going down the Star Wars prequels route of "someone should have said no to some of this".
Well that's a shame then because as a huge Harry Potter fan I hate to see the franchise putting out crap like this. The Cursed Child should have been everyone's warning that Rowling has completely lost the plot.

They are building up to a fight that happens 20 years after the end of this movie. They were planning that many? Damn I figured a trilogy would be stretching things out.
Venom's performance in China is nuts and I need someone to do a study as to why.
Nope. Gonna be around $850 million, as it looks like :)
I think that A Star is Born will do well with nominations and that's a genuine hit. Otherwise, I do agree that they'll be sticking to their wheelhouse, unless Disney resorts to some of the tactics studios pulled back before the New Hollywood era emerged with the super-expensive kiss-ass luncheons. Can You Ever Forgive Me? is performing really softly for a film that has one of the frontrunners for the big acting awards this year.
The Academy is going to have that same problem this year where all of the films that critics and their voters raved over made no money.
Elsewhere, Fox's Bohemian Rhapsody just won't stop. The Queen biopic did another $45.5M in 78 markets to see a terrific drop of just 29% and jumps in both Korea and Japan. The overseas cume is now $256.4M.
No, but it could go as high as 900M. In China It will significantly outperform Infinity War in the coming week.
Global total without China is currently 570.5. It will be likely to get to over 585 lifetime. My model shows that China is locked for 280M; almost certain to go above that, which will be confirmed in week 4 but currently sits just over 70% likelihood.
So from the guy who wrote 50 0000 words on this site why BP would cross 700M like a week and a half into its domestic run and backed it up with a shit tone of math. Homecoming is falling, Spider-Man 3 (890M) is in relative danger, 900M is 'possible'.
If Sony announced a Demogoblin movie you would preorder tickets that dayIf I hadn't given away my Maximum Carnage comics long ago I would apologise to them right now. And then throw them in the trash.
Damn audiences getting tired of the Wizarding World?
for sure thought it would do 80-100+ mil easily
Yo tell us what you think!
btw, in case anyone was wondering why Venom is doing so well in China. I figured it out for you*
Sure the US has Eminem going "Venumumumn" but China opted for something infinitely better. An idol girl group going "balabalahong".
*this may not in fact be why Venom did well, no refunds offered if this deep analysis didn't satisfy your demands. And also let's face it, the real reason is the road safety advert (which I can't find video of but enjoy this composite image. If I understand it right they show the motorcycle crash and then Venom comes in and admonishes the audience):
