I remember seeing the Smash 4 leaks and being absolutely stunned that anyone could think that they are fake, like some random leaker could come up with such perfect artwork for the Duck Hunt pair.

Hilarious times.

People should use common sense with these leaks, it is fairly easy to judge whether they are real or not.

Think my below comments through.

They already have shot it down in a quick video and on social media and are now refusing to discuss further as they do with all big rumours usually.

Just tells me that they have information which proves this is fake, or they don't want to piss off Nintendo.

If this is fake, at least it was worth it just for letting us escape the infinitely annoying Incineroar/Box Theory discussion. We forgive you king!

seriously, with just a few weeks to go I think this makes the last stretch a lot more bearable

People shouldn't convince themselves it's totally real, I'd say that for literally ever leak ever, but it's a lot more fun to talk about than those two alone

I just can't think of any realistic reason for this not being real and no insider (or outsider) gave any proper reason so far to doubt it either. So unless new info come up, I'll keep being totally on board of this being real until the (very unlikely) catastrophic end.

He has one of the most punchable face on the web and he robbed us of Rayman, but he's legit good at modeling. I don't think he gets Smash's style as well as he did with Rayman now, but it's pretty close.

This thread made me realize that life is going to get a bit more spicy once deep fakes are more common.

I'll admit I really want Isaac and Geno to be playable and had given up on both of them. The fact characters I really want are on this leak is why I'm afraid to embrace it much like the Ridley murmurs before e3. It's also why vergeben's leak was much easier for me to believe, since I don't care either way about Ken and Incineroar :P

If fake, I'm very curious how they did it. Hopefully they give an explanation, that's my favorite part of these large scale rumors/leaks.

If it's fake I wonder which of the 7 characters made it fake.

So assuming this is real I've been looking at the Chorus Kids artwork and the inclusion of their orchestra director / maestro / whatever it is, and their proximity to the Pokémon Trainer, makes me think the director will be a background character like the Trainer. Could be cool, you play as the Chorus Kids, but the Director is in the background giving them directions and orders. Really curious to see how they would work out.

Thematically it's also very interesting to see those two characters close in the banner, makes the leak even more believable since it's a very Sakurai / Nintendo thing to do.

Smash has made it impossible to discount potential leaks as fake unless they include actual game play footage (and even then I fear that's only a matter of time).

I don't blame anyone for thinking the ESRB leak was fake up until actual footage dropped. But at the same time, bringing that up as a moment where a leak was legit is also setting aside the very moments where convincing leaks ended up not so legit - the Palutena leak is one but the Smashified one sticks out in my mind the most. That came after the ESRB leak, when we had cause to believe that legitimate leaks could happen, and when they had constructed actual footage of the menu. It was sort of compounded upon by an insider supposedly saying that Ubisoft did ask for Rayman in the game at one point (hence the trophy).

It's always good to be skeptical. The Rayman leak broke my heart. I don't want that to happen again.

it's of course always good to keep some salt in your pocket and to be skeptical, but at one point you have to sit down and realize that this immense mess is impossible to attack with the evidences we have now, people have been at it for 24 hours now and there's just no way to debunk it
there's of course still the possibility of an evil mastermind that decided a month ago to make the best leak ever in the history of video games, but it's really telling that the only argument "insiders" have against this is that "they heard otherwise"

I Hope you're right. It would be such a disappointment if this thing was real. It looks bad and 0 woman newcomer.. wow. Isabelle is mostly animal.

But what's really shocking is how you can get tons of thumb down just because you believe it's not true.
Pretty immature.

There's not even any need to say why we think it's fake when the thing itself isn't confirmed or proved, especially when the real side argument is so vague.

Or the next direct needs to happen and confirm a character not in this/confirm a character in this with different artwork.

Odds are the next time we get meaningful smash information will be the direct that reveals the full roster anyways.

If this turns out to be fake I won't even be mad - the orchestrator would dethrone Artsy Omni as the king of fake leaks and will be featured in like every smash leak discussion going forward

I think a thumbs down is ok if it wasn't the content you expected from a channel you follow for certain reasons.

I'm all for GameXplain having the right to make any vids they want for any reason but those also may change my view of the channel and if it's still the right channel for the content I want.

That's the last I'll personally say on this subject, though.

The evidence is far... far more vague and doubtful than you seem to think it is.

This one has a lot of things going against it.
From the artwork to the number and nature of characters and so on.

Yhe thing is your "proofs" are at best, as much conjectures as the counter argument.

Oh and it's not the best leak ever either.

I think we'll know the status of this before the next Direct.

I mean if the person doesn't come out we have to wait for the Smash Direct anyways. We've been waiting a long time it feels like for new info.

That's why I feel this leak is pretty inoffensive if it's fake

Like, it'll only have been floating around for 2 weeks max by the time we know the full roster. It's not like it's something that'd have shaped and stifled the entire hype discussion from day one

People will be disappointed if it's wrong but honestly, if the truth is that there's just Ken and Incineroar left? People would have been upset regardless.

If the leak is real I guess we're really close to the Direct since that marketing material would be sent in preparation for that.
