Considering that the game began production nearly a decade ago and the gameplay and design of BoTW wasnt revealed till 2016, I doubt it was much of an influence, if any at all. If anything, it sounds like the open world game that has had the most influence is...Shenmue (and by extension the 2011/2012 revival of the immersive sim genre with Dishonored and Deus Ex)How is the last big revolutionary open world game random in this context? It wouldn't be too far fetched to assume RDR2 was in some way influenced by BOTW.
I still think "Breath of the Wild West" is by far the best OT title suggestion I've heard.
Much as people seem to hate it (because... I guess people don't like BotW or something...?) it makes a ton of sense.
Breath of the Wild was a big milestone for open world games, and Red Dead Redemption 2 seems like another.
Beyond "Nintendo fans" and "fans of other consoles" seemingly being split into two different groups, I'm not sure why that title is so contentious.
You're gonna have a real bad time when people actually have the game and mention how it seems to have cribbed from BOTW. It's a pretty obvious observation.
As More Badass mentioned, OT title was already chosen. So no point in flooding the thread once again with ot title suggestions.
It's been mentioned for weeks now, it seems.I mentioned breath of the wild West a a couple dozen pages ago and was met with the same response.
As someone who loved playing BOTW, I couldn't disagree more.
It's disrespectful toward this game by virtue of paying homage to another game, instead of letting Red Dead 2 be it's own thing without another game reference jumping in and stealing the spotlight.
From the title alone, it represents BOTW more than Red Dead since it has the entire title of the Zelda game in there.
Your sentence "Breath of the Wild was a big milestone for open world games, and Red Dead Redemption 2 seems like another" is an example of trying to lump BOTW into the conversation, when it has no business being here to begin with.
BOTW is its own thing. Red Dead 2 is its own thing. Keep them separated.
The comparisons will already come, no reason to send out the bat signal for the games launch.
are you guys worried, in the upcoming week, about people guilt tripping you about buying Red Dead 2 after this whole labor controversy?
