I wish it had gyro controls for aiming like you do on the switch, this should be a standard for all consoles

Other than providing the ability to turn off the light on the home button, I would love the ability to easily replace worn stick grips.

I just thought of one.

It's no DS4 light bar, but please reduce the light on the guide button. I liked the 360 where the "X" was lit up with a less harsh green instead of the circle behind it being a blinding floodlight.

Why do people want a non removable battery. That's so backwards. I wish I could remove and replace the battery in my PS4 controller it only lasts like a couple hours.

Add a share button and call it done. Pretty much perfect as is.

EDIT: Also allow me to split them. Favorite thing by far about the switch. I love being able to lounge and have my hands go where ever its most comfortable and still be able to play.

What? The Xbox One D-Pad is fantastic, and it's clicky nature is very Nintendo (as opposed to the spongey DS4 D-Pad) and gives great tactile response for platformers and fighters. And the 360 D-Pad was plain broken, so I'm baffled how you could want it to be more like that?! Basing this on the V2 XBO controller as never used the V1 version.

No its not. It's shitty and horrible for fighting games. At least on the 360 I can consistently pull out quarter circle move or dragon punch style moves with ease. Can't say the same for the Xbox One controller. The cross design is shit and will always be shit. Why they went with that design and not stick with the 360 one with improvements is beyond me. The Xbox One controller is the biggest let down for me regarding the Xbox One hardware this gen.

Hmm this is the first I've ever heard someone not satisfied with battery life on the controller. How many hours do you get out of yours?
I think I was being harsh in that regard. I use a battery pack for the bone controller and that lasts around 15 hours which is more than enough in fairness.

I just keep comparing controller battery life's to the Switch/Wii u pro controller which last an insane amount of time but the Xbox one with batteries is very good considering you can also connect a headset to it.

My One controller has a single input/double output problem on the D-Pad. For example: I'll quick chat in Rocket League and send a response twice when I only pressed the D-Pad once.

Also, I like the asymmetric sticks, but I like the resistance and height of the DS4.

Finally, find a way to keep aging controllers from getting that slick, worn look/feel after long use.

Bonus rant: The original DS4 trigger mechanism was maybe one of the worst designs ever in a controller. a frail piece of plastic that keeps the trigger properly aligned would snap after hours play.

Split up the controller, put 6DOF into both of them. I have a design doc for that stuff, I'm pretty sure with this setup you could revolutionize the way FPS games (along with plenty of other genres) are played on consoles. You wouldn't even need a second analog stick anymore. And we'd finally be able to put mouse and keyboard to rest.

Huh, I thought the current d-pad was great, not that I use it a lot. Revised bumpers are also nice. Grips are also very helpful and you really notice it when you back to the non-revised one. Really like it a lot. Would be cool to have paddles be a standard thing.

Get the dpad right this time, please. I even liked the transformable 360 dpad better. Current one is too flush with the controller and takes too much effort to push. Everyone should copy the Vita dpad, it's the best ever.

Make triggers that can somehow be set to feel like the bumpers, making them tactile and limit how far they go down when pressed. Analog triggers are only good for racing games, and bad for everything else.

Why do people want a non removable battery. That's so backwards. I wish I could remove and replace the battery in my PS4 controller it only lasts like a couple hours.

Because it's easier to just set the controller on the charger every few days than to take the battery cover off, toss/stash the batteries, get new ones out of a drawer, pop them in and cover them up again.
However, even the current Xbox controllers can be used that way if you buy battery packs/charger like I did, so the current method still works out best.

Elite controller as the standard with user adjustable stick tension (way too loose by default) and a Vita like dpad option. I can't really think of any other improvements I'd make over the current Elite, aside from the custom lab/color stuff.

Bring in some features from the Elite controller. Better analog sticks, paddles, etc.

Put gyro controls in. No matter how good it may be as a standard gamepad, I would never choose an Xbox One controller because the lack of motion just makes it seem obsolete next to the alternatives. It feels like going back to a pre-analog stick controller with just a D-pad for any games that involve aiming.

If MS actually included motion to have parity with Sony and Nintendo it could radically change PC gaming for the better, since developers would be able to put native motion control in their games if Xinput expanded to support it instead of having to rely on Steam's hit or miss customization options.

Gyro controls

Capture button

Less clicky bumbers

Include a rechargeable battery in the box, even if AAs are supported

Gyro, USB C, screenshot button, better bumpers, less sticky face buttons

The controller is seriously damn near perfect. One thing that's a must is a screenshot button. Beyond that I'd take some sticks with more tension. The rest is perfect.

Honestly just better quality on the bumpers and sticks (had so much stick drift on controllers lately).

Maybe gyro controls just because and a share button maybe.

My biggest issue with the controller is the bumpers. They should maybe be either better material or redesigned.

I love the clicky bumpers and D pad. Y'all are crazy. The only bad bumpers imo are on the initial launch model that ommited the 3.5mm jack.

With the play and charge kit the battery pack will disconnect if you twist the controller, so they need to make the connection more sturdy.

Revised d-pad, 360 style sticks, actually call start and select by their names.

Keep that form factor and stick placement.

Screenshot button, better build quality - I like my Xbox controllers, but they've all got problems - USB-C charging/connection port, and replace those stupid symbols on the middle buttons. I still mix them up occasionally, and I know a few other people who do the same. Either go back to calling them 'Start' and 'Back', or use Start/Select, or literally any other naming scheme that has the one on the right still be called 'Start'.

I like the clicky d-pad and bumpers. I'd appreciate it if they found some way to make accidentally clicking the sticks more difficult, though—without making it difficult to click them deliberately.

I wouldn't mind them going with the split controller design. Lot more control options imo when you do that and I think it still works fine for traditional games.
