Also I just wanna say that, as someone who has followed Batista through most of his career, I never thought that "Leviathan" or "Deacon Batista" would end up being such a gigantic movie star.

As I said in the other thread, Bautista has a lot more in common with the Latino community in terms of heritage than someone like Javier Bardem. The only distinct difference is in terms of geographic origin. As it stands, he is physically perfect for the role, his ethnic makeup is almost perfect for the role, and on the whole, I'd classify him as Hispanic at least, which to me, as a Latino, is close enough. It feels like some people want to use the Latino / Hispanic distinction (which, again, is not really recognized by the USA census) to divide, which is counter-intuitive. In my eyes, the two terms should be used interchangeably to be inclusive.

if he joins the DCEU he can potentially face the Rock, that would be cool

Get Cena a role while you're at it! I was kinda bummed he didn't get Shazam but there's other heroes he can play.

His ethnic makeup is FAR from almost perfect what in the world. He's neither British or Latino lol. And no, you can't use those terms interchangeably Jesus.

Again, I think representation matters a lot, but I think the exclusion of Bautista from our group on what amounts to technical grounds is silly.

It's not a technically, but I'll leave you with this article so you can come to your own conclusion:

https://www.wearelatinlive.com/article/1446/are-filipinos-considered-hispanics (dont click on full story there's nothing actually there lol)

I doubt Bautista himself would consider he or his heritage is hispanic.

Edit: lots of good opinions here: https://www.quora.com/Are-Filipinos-Hispanic

But sure bro, fight the power

It's cool that you have spanish blood, but that doesn't make you latino.

Bane is latino.

Bautista might be hispanic, depends on him.

All latinos are hispanic, but not all hispanics are latinos.

I don't know why this is so hard for some of you.

and I say this as a 100% latino, not latino american, born, raised and living in Central America, so not sure if you're trying to impress me with your credentials, as I probably have more insight on this. Not going to apologize for wanting to see a latino play a latino part.

Just thinking, I've seen King Shark mentioned here and I was certainly thinking that at first myself.

Option 2 could easily be Unknown Soldier.

So this was DC's plan from the beginning. Kill Marvel from the inside by stealing their talent. People will look back on this moment in history as when Marvel's fall from grace began.

Why? I'm passionate about our people getting represented on screen, if you don't give a shit that's on you but you're part of the problem.

A Spanish colony does not a Latino make. Do you consider Javier Bardem to be latino by any chance
Latin name, ie name that seems linked to the old language; not latino.

Spanish colonies - regardless if it's in America, Africa or Asia - were still colonies and relate to the fact that Bane is a child from poverty and people that got screwed over by the system and old money, like a dark mirror from Bruce Wayne. I could see it working pretty well.

Everyone in Hollywood is gonna be fighting to be in a goddamn Suicide Squad sequel. That's an interesting turn of events.
I hope Dave makes it in. There's a giant list of characters he could be perfect for. And bring in Zoe Saldana too please.

I'm still not that happy that Gunn is working on SS2 since I just don't like his films myself (well, Tromeo and Juliet aside) but this is a good move for everyone involved.

I wish this was Secret Six instead of Suicide Squad. Dave could have been an amazing Bane.

WB/DC didn't steal anyone. Disney fired Gunn and refused to rehire him when given the opportunity to course correct. They did this shit to themselves.

Bautista sticking up for his friend and what he believes in isn't anything new. You guys should hear the story he told on Chris Jerichos podcast where got Vince McMahon pissed and it cost him a boatload of money because he was sticking up for Jericho and all those that were involved in this particular match at a taboo Tuesday ppv.

you made a mistake, not all Latinos are Hispanic

I blame American labelling on all this.

Hispanic means one from a Spanish speaking country of descendant of a Spanish speaking country (nothing to do with race).
(US definition) Latino means one from a country in the Americas who's language is derived from Latin. Brazil's language is Portuguese (not Spanish).

BUT BUT BUT BUT

the European definitions of Latino means anyone from a country who's language is derived from Latin :P.

The European definition predates the US's so I take Europe's definition because it makes more sense, anyone from a Romace langauge country (derived from Latin) is a Latino. Because it's all about language

jesus christ.

my real world is a third world country where our children could use heroes and kick ass characters to represent them on screen, give them a bit of hope, something to aspire to and a break from the shit reality that they live in. how about yours? you sound mighty priviliged and im surprised this kind of dismissal of diversity concerns is kosher in this forum.

its complicated, but fact of the matter is Bane is Latino, so Bautista having a drop of spanish blood means jack shit. at that point might as well cast a spaniard in the role.

If this would mean Drax not returning or GotG getting permanently cancelled, I'm not down for this news.
