Yeah, it has always been the case since Origins. It's easier to just buy a new piece of epic/legendary gear from merchant instead of upgrading the one you have.
I was hoping that it'll be improved in Odyssey, but I guess not.

Cliffs + Kick is the best thing ever. I just CANNOT understand why they didn't think of having a jump to stab on the ground follow up with a reasonnable distance like the air assassination for exemple. I would love to finish kicked enemies on the ground from a ledge

Ok, against my better judgement, I bought the game to hold me over until BO4 this Friday. How annoying is the Exploration Mode? I want to try it out, but I'm more of a "Just show me where to go" type of guy.

All the isles are cut into regions, there are cities/villages. Directions are given in two ways:
- isle + cardinal point on a region + terrain situation "xxx island, southeastern part of parnaseum mountain, in a clearing"
- location within a city "xxx house, east of greater athens"
When you get to within 150m/200 a prompt (if you have not disabled hints) will pop up telling you to deploy your eagle, then you target the objectice through the reticle mechanism and the marker is added to your screen clutter xD

I sincerely don't know what you are talking about, so I just guessed and put the bit about Deimos between spoiler tags. If you meant something else, or if this happens again in the future, it would really help if you don't act like you're having a freakout and tell me in a normal way what exactly I should change.
Is the alternate control scheme from Origins in this game? I never liked having to use R1/R2 for combat so I switched it to the face buttons in Origins.
Does money ever get easier to get?
I'm kinda leveling so incredibly fast I have to keep upgrading my gear (my armor is still lvl 12 or so, it's legendary so I'm holding on to it but I've gotten pretty good at not getting hit so it's purely for stats ATM) but even only upgrading my bow every level or two I seem to constantly be broke, which is a bummer bc I haven't upgraded my ship since the quest to do so

How close is this game to Origins? I absolutely loved Origins but I'm not fatigued or ready to move on from it yet so if it borrows a lot from Origins I'd probably stick to that for a little while longer.
It's a lot easier to just equip new items instead of focusing on upgrading every item you get. I wouldn't upgrade stuff until endgame when you get some weapons and gear worth keeping.
Played this for like six hour yesterday, never expected to be this addicted to an Assassin's Creed game. What's even more surprising, I'm actually interested in the story! I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing where it's gonna go.
Also dropped the game on easy and I'm enjoying it a lot more right now. I think the combat is serviceable at best, so all the mercenary gank fests etc. started to get annoying. Not sure if the difficulty has an effect on stealth?
There's a fair amount of jank in the cutscenes and animations still. Many conversations and minor cutscenes seem robotic as fuck. There are some great moments too, though, like

I got a thunderstorm twice (one on the open sea and one on terrain). It looked pretty cool although barely lasted a min.
I dunno why weather changes aren't more common or last longer, seems like a waste.
Discovered my first real criticism of the game, aka, shit they need to patch right away. NPCs that I need to protect are just too fucking fragile. I've failed every single "protect NPC" mission I've taken because the NPC dies on me right away. I also had to reload a quick save 5 times because one side quest NPC I wanted to save kept getting one shotted by a fucking asshole with a sword, by the time I was able to get my bow on him he had the NPC down on the ground and ready to get executed.
Confession time: I bought the XP/Money boost. Yes, I'm part of the problem but I wasn't enjoying the game without it. I wish I bought the PC version and used a trainer or Cheat Engine
Is it just me or does the game not save your HUD preferences? Every time I start the game I need to hide the damage numbers again
Most things seem to stick in my game, but for some reason the game is adamant about telling me to use Ikaros when I'm near a target. I also can't get rid of the "you have better gear, go to the inventory screen to equip it" notification. Both despite the fact I have tips and tricks turned off.
The game also likes showing me the swim controls.
For me it's tips that keep resetting back to enabled every time I start the game, damage numbers stay disabled.
Try rechecking the HUD option every time you close the game and restart.
I'm on PC and it saves every setting on the left coloumn but Fight Damage Numbers and Tips & Tricks keep getting defaulted back to on every single time I start up the game.
Disappointing, I've yet to play an open world game where weather was a genuine feature and gameplay element. Mad Max was a closest thing with its sandstorms or BOTW's slippery climbing.
Sell your useless equipment instead of dismantling it and use the money to buy resources from blacksmiths in different towns.
Dammit I'm like on the edge of getting this game I just couldn't get into Origins but I do like me some AC. And I think it's kinda rad to have a female protag. Hmm decisions decisions...

I should prob do that, but I level so fast and get decent gear so infrequently I'll usually be stuck with things ~5-6 levels below me, or gear that only gives bonuses to things I don't use.. but I've pretty much settled on just sticking with very low level armor, but I might have to start swapping to different bows and just keep what bow I have as a skin for later, or until I've upgraded my ship more I guess
You were right, it was toggled on again. That at least explains the equipment message. The Ikaros thing happens anytime I track a quest and close in on the target, though, even when I know for sure I have tips and tricks toggled off.
At least the HUD options seem to only reset when you restart the game, and not when you take the PS4 out of rest mode with the game still running.
Pick up contracts in every town you go to. They're passive quests that net you generous money and xp

Oh, I have a couple of sets like that. I'm waiting until I hit level 50 though, otherwise it'd be a waste to have to continue upgrading them with how silly expensive it is.

Eventually you get gear that starts selling for 1k+ as regular drops. Several times I opened my menu to see I had over 60,000 without realizing it.
Now that I'm done with Astro Bot, I'm kinda looking for a meaty game to frolic in and this one seems interesting. Bounced off Origins hard though, so if it's just more of the same it's a hard sell.
Still might pull the trigger, seeing as I love Greek history and mythology. It would be neat to meet Sisyphus and troll everybody else together.
