The more I look at this the more I'm digging it. Especially that second shot. I can see them doubling down on the clone makeup, but his demeanor being anything but. Seeing a guy like that with a pistol in his hand would be terrifying.

I can't be mad. Every Batman incarnation is a distinctive outfit yet very clearly Batman. I'll allow for liberties in design if the character is allowed to shine.

Huge improvement over leto's look but it all depends on the acting and expressions to see if it can top ledgers

Both. The look has the opposite problem of Leto's: Too generic and "safe." He's once again just a guy in clown makeup, except unlike Ledger its looks professionally applied so he loses any hint of menace or originality.

And all that stems for WB's frantic attempts to course correct after the DCEU failed. That they are even filming this movie, while also still trying to limp on the DCEU with Aquaman, Wonder Woman 2 and (maybe?) Shazam, and also planning for a third universe movie with Supergirl (maybe?) tells me that they have no idea what they are doing and are firmly in the "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" phase of franchise planning.

I remember Ledger's Joker got a fair amount of hate when it was first reveal.

I think it was the first trailer (not the teaser) that got people to turn around quickly.

Oh thats not bad. Jesus, the amount of dogpile in that first page had me nervous for a minute. Never trust Era for a general opinion.

Reminds me of a mix of Nicholson and Ledger. Super dope!

This is a pretty lousy take, to be honest. DC clearly has been on a set path since Wonder Woman. Justice League suffered due to the shift to match their new direction. I honestly believe things are moving in the right direction.

Oh man, more than anything it just makes me realize that we missed out on a decade of amazing Heath Ledger performances as the joker . That dude was perfection with the part.

Looks like they're going to ground this movie .

Yeah, not sold on the make up.

But Joaquim Pheonix is a great actor, capable of delivering a very strong performance.

I'll wait and see.

I just don't even know what this movie is. Like, is he gonna be a dude who dresses like a clown, and this is still him as a normal human? Then at the end we'll see him transform into the monster that will look like a demented version of this?

The fact he looks more like a clown, given who the actor is, he'll pull it off I'd say. It's going to be terrifying.

I like it. I really like the idea of giving the movie a King of Comedy vibe (super underrated Scorsese flick), but idk but the director being able to deliver the goods on this :/

Joaquin Phoenix is a treasure though

I'm not only curious but very excited. Also, is judging by that clip, is this set in the 70s or 80s or something? The era really stands out.

If nothing else I imagine he'll have more traditional Joker makeup at the end of the movie. You know, just cuz.

I think this is probably the early makeup that will be used and it will become more Joker like ad the movie progresses. I trust Phoenix to give an amazing performance.

I assume, since this is an origin tale, this won't be what his Joker will finally look like when all is said and done. Every other Joke (except Ledger but the context is different there) is Joker at his final "Crime Lord" form.

IMO Leto's Joker looks great and fits the specific kind of Joker he is - a gangster Joker. It's just a terribly realized character. Ledger fits the type of Joker as well.

This looks like John Wayne Gacy to me. A serial killer, but it doesn't evoke "Joker" to me.

I can kinda get the feel of the tone, but I need to see more. As of right now I kinda dig it. Definitely need to see more for a final judgment
