Ahh ok. That explains why I couldn't find a reg price anywhere online. And thank youI might be mistaken, but I believe the yearly subscription isn't normally available. I think normally they only offer 1 month ($20) and 3 month ($45) subscriptions.
Not all of their PS2 games are available via Now, but you're not too far off the mark. I think they're at 3 dozen or so PS2 games which is pretty abysmal considering how vast the ps2 library was.Is the list in the first page comprehensive or has Sony only really added 12 PS2 games to PSNow after so many years?

That was an example of when trying to shitpost goes wrong.

dumb beginners question about PS Now
do you need a PS3 controller to play PS3 games? Cuz I've tried twice and nothing works with "press the start button".

Both are fine but slim will last longer due to less heat, being newer and the WiFi inside is improved if you got a 5G routerSo as someone just about to buy a (used) ps4, is it important / better to get the slim instead of the original? Or is functionality and reliability the same (in which case I will get to original to save a few bucks). And can you change the hd in both? Seems like in going to need bigger than 500gb if I get this service.
It's pretty simple - the Cell processor is faster than the Jaguar at a certain set of operations. The minimum requirement for a usable emulator is being able to execute instructions at least as fast as the original system (and then you need additional overhead for translation etc, although you may reduce this by recompilation as they do on the Xbox One BC), so it can not reasonably be done.

Ugh, fuck's sake Sony. Not in Australia = fucked. Fucked!Wonder if they'll finally bring this to Australia now (they did accidentally put the service up here a long time ago but then quickly got rid of it because it was most likely a accident) that we can actually use it with our slow internet speeds over here.
It's much more enticing to me now that they're downloadable.
This is better for their bandwidth.
Why stream 1080p of ps2 game indefinitely when the game itself is only like 2 to 5 gb haha
Great addition ! Will take advantage of this!
IndeedConversely, there are games that would take 50GB to download and play that would use only 10GB if you were to just stream the 10 hr campaign.
Yeah, Sony should probably start adding some older PS4 exclusives like Driveclub, the inFamous games, LBP3, TLoU Remastered, the Uncharted games and more. That's a pretty cool update. Hopefully they'll add more games. None of the games listed at the moment would make me a subscriber. Most of the decent games listed I feel like I already owned or played. And that PS2 list needs a boost.
And remember, you do not need a PlayStation Plus membership for online multiplayer on PS Now – which stays the same for both streaming and downloaded games.
This needs to be repeated:
I see you Sony. If this was always like this, how in thee hell was it not advertised more???

Will be interesting to see if PS now subs and useage now increase, to the point where they see that maybe the streaming side of it isn't worth the costs.
If it's already profitable (an assumption) and they increase their number of paying users, how would that show that the streaming side isn't worth the costs? Will be interesting to see if PS now subs and useage now increase, to the point where they see that maybe the streaming side of it isn't worth the costs.
Make a US/UK account?
I know, but everyone else is doing cross play too, doesn't mean Sony want to or will.... But everyone else is exploring streaming model and introducing something in the next year or two...
It being profitable is a huge assumption. The costs of streaming games is much higher than letting people download games once. If people now abandon the streaming side of things and mainly download to play, it means they could get rid of all the dedicated streaming hardware and associated costs and not really lose anything. If it's already profitable (an assumption) and they increase their number of paying users, how would that show that the streaming side isn't worth the costs?
I'm assuming they don't have any server support for it here in Australia, so you'd be streaming from the US servers with a minimum of 200ms ping. It would be horrible and unplayable.

Has PS Now been making them money? It cost them like 500 mil to buy Gaikai, an unknown iirc amount for onlives patents, and has high running costs compared to normal servers for game downloads, and from all I've seen it wouldn't have many subscribers.Cross-play doesn't make them money directly. If anything, they fear it'll make them lose money. ( diminish the network/play-with-friend effect of their install base walled-garden )
A streaming service will, and have been making them money.
What Sony's been doing this gen - and what they have avoided doing, all can be traced back to basically them doing moves that they think will make them more money than simply copying what some competitors are doing.

Again they stream not only games but movies and shows under the PlayStation Banner with PlayStation Vue
At $20/month and not being able to touch the PS3 library makes it a no go for me.
Same here in NZ (though we have better internet than Aus lol). I'm sure one of their next moves will be expanding the service worldwide though, that and expanding the PS4 and PS2 Classics lineup should be the priority right now.
It doesn't make any sense for Sony to put their big blockbusters on PS Now because even the smaller ones like Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima will probably sell 5 million+, while the bigger ones (Spider-Man, GoW and TLOU2) will sell 10 million+.Great news. The close they get to game pass the better.
Sadly, I doubt Sony would ever put new first party games on the service, but baby steps.
