Nice. I have a Switch and want to play for free a few virtual console games I bought for Wii U and 3DS, can I do it? I assume you can of course.

Stop being so disingenuous. I have plenty of PS1 discs, can I play them on my PS4 or do I have to buy this classic console? It's obvious what they meant by being free and it was a bit of fun...

When the competition is charging you twice for the same privelage, I think it's not unreasonable for them to play fast and loose with the term "free".

It really is much better for us, the consumer, to be able to just play them from our modern consoles.

It's bad wording. Not sure why one need to be that defensive about it. The capability of playing +500 games on the Xbox us "totally for free" - not the games themselves like the original tweet was stating it.

The tweets definitely lacks info/clarification, but this isn't too hard of a puzzle to figure out, especially from users on a gaming forum.
Because Sony doesn't offer a similar service. You can't play your old games on a ps4 at all. They are selling a $100 piece of plastic to play old games. Xbox's solution is better for people who already own the games and I wish the ps4 had this option.
Interestingly, the ps4 is the first Sony console that you can't play your ps1 games straight off the disk.

Dude, only it this forum, the only console that offers retro without paying extra and that lets you play your games without paying for them again will be received with negativiy for saying that its free.

The ability to play something and offering ownership are different. PS+ free games are free games as long as you're a PS+ subscriber for example. Yet the 'free' debate doesn't seem to pop up when they announce the PS+ titles every month (or Games with Gold for that matter). Believing it was Xbox offering 500 games for you to own for free is amusing.
Am I wrong tho? xbox pushing BC comes across as desperate since they dont have anything else to sell. unless there is some hidden exclusives I missed.
