I'm playing through Hollow Knight and I'm almost finished - but I still think Celeste is the best indie game all year, and it's still my favourite game I've played all year.

Beginning of the year Celeste was my indie goty but playing hollow knight was a revelations.....tried playing Celeste today and everything from jumps to wall climbing feels wrong now :/

Huh. Hadn't really considered Subnautica an indie 'cause the production values are so glorious. But upon reflection, I guess you're right that it's an indie.

In that case I change my vote to Subnautica or Football, Tactics & Glory.

Still my GOTY, yeah. Such a wonderful game.

It's definitely the best one I've played all year.

From the few indie games I played this year, it's an easy yes. (I haven't played Dead Cells or Hollow knight yet)

If not, then I'll give it to Iconoclasts or if it counts as 2018 (though it came out 2017) Hollow Knight.

This thread is great, its opening my eyes to some great indies! Recently bought into the breach, its great. Gonna pick up celeste, dead cells and hollow knight thanks to this thread!

Celeste, Dandara. The Messenger , Minit, and Into the Breach have been the most amazing indie games on my Switch.

I gave Hollow Knight its praise last year.

Celeste, Iconoclasts, Unavowed, Heaven will be Mine and Subnautica have made this an amazing year for indie games, though I don't know that I'd pick any one of them over the others.

This thread sold me on Iconoclasts, so thanks for the recs.

If I actually finish it, I'll let you know. Currently in W4 b-sides and hit a brick wall.

Edit: Finished all B and C Sides w/o Assist. Yeah, this is currently my frontrunner for GOTY. My thumbs are still raw from W7-C.
