How is it even possible this reveal trailer turned into a toxic thread? Is there some type of weekly quota to break into arguments on here? Holy shit.

It feels like back when Rockstar first revealed CJ.
Some people have pretty clearly exposed themselves as not giving a shit about representation if the characters don't resemble themselves. Some are actually arguing it doesn't 'count' as much because the protagonists aren't women or gay (which we have no way of knowing). I legitimately don't know if I've ever played as a Hispanic character in a video game that wasn't in a fighting game. That alone is enough to get me excited and intrigued. It's what I want more from gaming and it's a unique perspective only gaming can provide.

Holy shit this thread is an embrassment. Inclusion only matters when it's the very specific inclusion you want and relate to, I guess.

This thread should not be used to pit equality movements against each other. It's okay to be pleased with the reveal, and it's okay to be disappointed by the reveal. Be respectful of other opinions and do not make things hostile.

I'm not even looking at the first page, haven't seen one drop of this game and I'm going to go in completely blind.

Hopefully this one knocks as much as the first game, loved it and the BtS.

Yes. First episode is kinda meh. It starts picking up in the final stretch of episode 2 onward.

First episode is a bit dull. Gets better and better from there.

It's a slow burn but it definitely gets better.

The appeal is the world/setting, if you don't like that then you probably won't like the game. It's about high school bullshit and friendship.

Thanks for all the replies. I might give it a second try then.

I don't think the police confrontation would work the same way with a female character. I'm guessing they're going to go all in with that scenario before things escalate with the powers.

But people being sceptical before release (or after episode 1) is nothing new for this franchise. I'm sure it will be great.

Haha this thread is great. The best presentation of a fucked up fanbase I've seen in a while.

Weird to see so many people hate on having little kids in games and other media. Ageism much? Isn't it a bit prejudiced to group all young kids together and automatically assume all of them are annoying?

Games don't really focus on brotherhood/siblinghood that much in stories to be honest.

It's would be nice to see one do it well.

I trust Dontnod blindly and I'm totally supporting them always.... and now the LONG wait starts for the release of the physical cooy so I can experience the game as whole like I did with the first one.

Please be released before May :-(

Especially with this story structured as a "journey", I'd rather play each episode as they drop, taking my time and having the experience dwell in my brain for months. But I get that it's a tough wait between episodes :/

Would you play a Zelda without Link? A God of War without Kratos? A walking dead without Clementine?

Maybe, just maybe, they mad a huge mistake.
Yes, yes, and I don't play the Walking Dead.

Why would you want their story to continue? It's wrapped up. It's done. Anything more is just going to disservice the story that was told. You have to let stories end or else they lose meaning.

The complaining about not continuing Max and Chloe's story is extra hilarious because their literally making a comic which is just that.

How many aren't? Clementine in TWD1 is done well. Atreyus in GoW was good other than a certain section.

What else?

I transcribed the newspaper clipping

Shooting in South Seattle

A police officer was found dead, next to the body of Esteban Diaz, 45, who was apparently shot by said officer. The only witness, a teenager, was knocked unconscious during the incident and remains in the hospital. The details of the case are not clear while Diaz's two sons, Sean, 17, and Daniel, 9 are now wanted for questioning. Police believe that

I liked it despite the writing... Dontnod aren't really master storytellers. Vampyr was a dud.

Well, life is Strange got a lot of awards for the story :)
Also i disagree.Storytelling in their game is great.
And funny enough, their stories is written by real authors, not random guys. It's the premise of the studio (created also by authors, not game dev),spending time writing and telling a story and making a game with it.

I get it. LiS was more than just a game to a ton of people. Very dedicated fan base around the main characters and again, we re getting a book based on bae ending.

Overall the fan base is not this thread, they re cool

On a different note, I'm really glad to see Jonathan Morali return to score the sequel, since his magnificent music for the first one makes so much of the atmosphere. The licensed soundtrack will be something else too, no doubt.

I LOVE "choose your story" games but the 1st LIS game didn't register with me at all (didn't really like the setting nor the mc's).
That being said, am looking forward to this one!

y'all, please. we really, really, really do not need to have Oppression Olympics in this thread.

it's so fucking depressing to see minority groups going at each other's throats to fight for whatever scraps of representation they can get from media. we're all on the same side, and the enemy here is not each other but the companies that keep whitewashing their media and telling heteronormative stories. fighting over which minority is more oppressed and deserves the rep more accomplishes nothing. attacking one of the few developers bothering to tell these kinds of stories at all doesn't help either.

i probably won't be into lis2 as much as the first game or bts myself. i thought captain spirit was boring. but if lis2 can help out some hispanic american kid who feels like his own country is against him then fuck, man, i hope it's great.

best post in this trainwreck of a thread tbh.

How many are? I can't think of any that are annoying.

Every single one in a Bethesda game.

Duck and Sarah from TWD.

Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2 (albeit, that game is just annoying in general).

That's all I can think of so far. I'm sure there are more if I think harder. I know there is one more out there with an excessively annoying one I can't remember.

Oh shit, two Hispanic characters that aren't there just as side characters and seem to have dialogue that doesn't include shit like, hermano and muchacho? I'm definitely interested.

^^^

More on topic, this trailer absolutely contains the DNA of the franchise itself, from the art direction to the music and cinematography.

LiS and Before the Storm are my favourite "click and point" adventures of recent times. Can't wait for this!

I've read through this thread and the only thing I can come up with is i don't understand people, like I can't believe this thread had to get a mod edit.

The kid from the Gold Idol quest in Dragon Dogma, the Jarl's (I think? Im shit with titles) kids in Skyrim, almost every "kid" character in a Tales game

Eh, I can't get mad at people who are disappointed in this kind of shit when the entire fanbase was built upon a story centering on a demographic of people who never get games with this kind of production value.

It was kinda obvious with the s1 finale and farewell episode, that the story with Chloe and Max is done. Also The Last of Us Part 2, a triple A exklusive, Sony published game, is going to feature a lesbian.
