This may seem like it's coming out of left field, but does anybody think the game might end up having Peter Parker as the decoy protagonist? Like, he dies or is incapacitated and Miles ends up as the main playable character. A full MGS2 fakeout is unlikely, but maybe there's a switchout at the end of the game?
I doubt it. The most you're likely to see is a nod towards Miles getting powers or having powers or something. No funky protagonist switching.

YES! I rode the Spider-Man shuttle on the way home today, went on ERA, and saw this thread on the front page. I think it's a pretty damn cool ad but I'm easily amused.

Why are you dreaming of the inferior Spiderman in just about every single facet, be it personality or capabilities?

Well a more established Spiderman is often a more boring Spiderman. So a Peter Parker who's been at it for 8 years is less interesting to me than a Miles Morales who is just starting out.

I expect MIles to get his own game in the future TBH, likely after Spiderman 2. He probably is playable in SP2 and then gets his own game afterwards.

Wonder how much this cost? And furthermore I wonder what this game's entire marketing budget is, I'm guessing we're going to see a blitz these next couple of weeks.

I'll be damned... A literal Spider-Man hype train. God, I wish I could take that subway so much right now.

This is so insanely cool, though. Sony's really going all out, huh?

Honestly im actually feeling them doing something a bit different with it, like setting Miles up but MJ gets powers or something.
Just something about the E3 and SDCC trailers together gave me some vibes.
combine that with playable MJ scenes and an unrevealed super duper spoiler statue, im feeling it.

Probably crazy though.

:D

That's why I love Yusheida/Sony when he said that they didn't develop only games to be super seller like Uncharted or God of War but some small games which touch niche and make some diversity on the PS4 library like Gravity Rush 2 or The Last Guardian
100% this!!! It's an amazing strategy for PlayStation gamers. I love Gravity Rush and bought both games day one. Can't wait to see even more of these games from Japan Studio, Wild Sheep Studio, PixelOpus, etc.
Totally agree.

as a former NYCer, the cynic in me just thinks "would be nice if the city cared about the subway outside of promotional events"

It is a nice paint job though

Speaking of starting a marketing campaign: if Spider-Man isn't splattered all over the NFL's opening game, SNF and/or MNF in the first few weeks Sony's marketing arm is doing it wrong. I expect many a "this game is brought to you by Marvel's Spider-Man, exclusively on PlayStation 4".

I remember when Uncharted 4 was coming out, Sony had marketing for all the Amazon paper envelopes. So you would see Uncharted 4 marketing on all those brown Amazon envelopes.

this thread is really bringing out the NYC cynic in me as well

imagine when the kids freaking out over a corporate marketing campaign realize that the next Playstation Exclusive Open World (brought to you Exclusively by Sony Entertainment) is an actual place they could go visit
