Step into any Urban Outfitters or Forever 21 and that style in popular again. I didn't get it the first time, and I sure as hell don't understand why it's popular again. Bring back hypercolor shirts!

I was watching Predator 2 last night, and I commented to my wife that this movie is one of those fashion transition movies, where there are moments of 80s, but you start to see the 90s creep in:

Skinny clothes need to go away asap. If you're a guy in skinny jeans I hate to break it to you but you look ridiculous.

I've been rewatching Friends as background noise while I get other things done in the evenings, and my god the guys wear such terrible clothing.

Why were guys wearing things at least two sizes too big?? I don't get it.

Also, Ross is an asshole and Phoebe is the best thing about the show.

That's not even a good example of huge 90's sizes. Far worse offenders. They at least look comfy in those shots

Of all the baggy clothes pictures of the 90s this is not the one I would have picked. This is extremely tame

I can't wait to see what the next trend is. It seems like clothing keeps getting skinnier now. Hopefully it just goes nuts and huge hats come in or something.

Fashion designers put it on the runway. This is usually the answer to any question of 'why clothes trend'

OP lost all credibility immediately saying Phoebe was the best part of the show. Everyone knows she could have been completely removed and it would have made no difference whatsoever.

oversized and "baggy" looks are already on the way back. look at any runway show from the last season or 2 and you'll see what fast fashion will be like in the next 2-3 years.

The dumb shit I see people wearing these days is way funnier. I'd be happy to see (sensibly) baggy clothes have a bit of a resurgence. Keep the 90s suits tho damn

Clothes that fuckin fit you =/= tight clothes.

Why does this get lumped together with a lot of you? Wear clothes that fit you, they're comfortable not just when they're extra baggy, they're comfortable when they fit.

I don't wear tight clothing still and never will. I buy my shirts a size up from what I am, and make sure my jeans are pretty baggy. But I mostly wear shorts

You would think baggy clothing would be more in now than ever considering how fat everyone's gotten

These fashion threads on ERA are always something else.

Just wear clothes that fit, I'm sure no one is forcing you to wear skinny anything.

Nah, large clothing, at least fit all kind of bodies. The tight trend looks way more ridiculous now on many people who force themselves in because it's trendy.

If you wear clothes that fit it's pretty comfortable. You don't have to wear baggy clothes for comfort. It's weird to hear so many people here say that.

Unless you're 300+ pounds then yeah, you have no choice but to wear baggy clothes.

Why do people nowadays wear nuthuggers? Why did people in the 60s and 70s wear huge bell bottoms? What was up with all the hideous colors in the 80s?

Ya, due to that trend, I legitimately thought I was a large into the early '00s, when someone kindly informed me I was a medium.

Those suits with gigantic shoulder pads were an abomination, humanity did good getting rid of that shit. Skinny jeans is where we went wrong.

That didn't pop out of thin air. If famous rappers hadn't worn these brands in over sizes in the years before, none of these design houses would have gotten the inspiration.

I agree it all feeds itself, and street fashion contributed massively to the popularity of oversize clothes, but when I think of rappers in the 80s, I don't picture anything particularly 'laughably large' like e.g. TLC would exemplify mid-90s. I think of RUN DMC or LL cool J...
