The game will feature iconic songs from Neon Genesis Evangelion, Disney favorites including Frozen and Zootopia, and tracks from Kemono Friends, Osomatsu San, Hatsune Miku, and even Touhou Project. We didn't forget to include some of our own personal favorite songs from the Tekken series, Tales of Berseria, Ridge Racer, and IdolM@ster!

"Hello everyone, I am the producer for the PS4 version of Taiko no Tatsujin, Ayano Ueda. Taiko no Tatsujin was released in 2001 in Japan as an arcade game. This is the first time that we're releasing the series in the United States on PS4!

"One cool new feature I would like to tell you about is that you'll be able to battle online with ghost data collected from players all over the world. We're also including some popular anime songs from Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Attack on Titan, so be sure to check them out when you pick up the game!"

"Hello, this is Takehito Sasaoka, a member of the Taiko no Tatsujin development team. It's been 18 years since Taiko no Tatsujin showed up in arcades in Japan for the first time. "Taiko no Tatsujin" was born with the concept of 'Anyone can easily enjoy playing Taiko through the rhythm of music.' Eighteen years later, I hope that everyone in the world enjoys the series and what it represents. Please enjoy and play the game with the kawaii characters including Don-chan!"

Oh huh, I might pick up the PS4 version after hearing the performance on Switch was a bit iffy. Are there sizable differences between the two?

If I had to guess the retention of the original name and 2 versions along with being marketed on the Japanese title, means that the odds are higher each will maintain most of their respective original playlist

The big question is, will they release a bundle with the drum?

Is anyone familiar with the difference between these two games? Is it just a different track list?

Definitely getting this ... How does the switch version work? Can you do motion controls with the joycons? I mean, I'd rather the PS4 drum controller, but I'm guessing we went get that ...

Very nice!
The European PS Blog says it'll be digital only for Europe, so I guess no drums here?

If they sell the Drum separately I'd be down to buy it, since I've been playing the JPN Version since release with only a controller.

Nice! I have a couple little cousins who lived in Japan for a few years and still play Taiko on their Japanese 3DS. This will be a perfect Christmas gift.

Incredible news for the PS4 version - very shocked they're bringing it over. We knew about the Switch version for North America awhile ago. Definitely waiting to purchase the Switch version now.

The EU version being digital only is a bad sign for the drum making it over here. Feels like that's the main draw honestly so I'm pretty disappointed.

Also, a Nintendo Labo drum accesory could be a great way to market the game for kids.

Nice. I slept on the Asia (English sub) release for PS4. As long as the track listing really is essentially the same (and has Kurenai and Linda Linda), I'll definitely grab it.

Excited for both now given the song list implications! The only only home versions I own (beyond the PS2 version way back in the day) are the iM@s Vita ones (I'm no big iM@s fan but they were like $20 each when I was in Japan a couple years back); I've already been meaning to start playing them again lately as I never finished them, so this is good news too.

I do wonder if any songs will get dropped, though. I imagine they're switching in the English versions of the Disney songs, which is fine with me, but there's surely some anime/jpop songs that are gonna get dropped, right?

to clear up confusion, yes, these are two totally different games (albeit with a few songs shared between games). some key differences:

PS4:
- online matches
- play against replays of friend's last played song
- character customization
song list: http://taikotime.blogspot.com/2017/06/taiko-no-tatsujin-session-de-dodon-ga.html

switch:
- motion and touch control
- rhythm heaven-esque multiplayer minigames
- multiple playable characters with play-altering effects
song list: http://taikotime.blogspot.com/2018/04/taiko-no-tatsujin-nintendo-switch.html

So... this seems fun. I don't know anything about the franchise, but I've seen the character before. Anyone mind briefing me on it?
