For me its a toss between the ps1 boot and the windows 95 boot sound.
Who composed the ps1 boot anyway? Win'95 was made by the great brian eno

Great choice, OP. My personal favourite gaming sound is still the legendary drop sound from Diablo III:

I'm also a big fan of the gold drop sound from the original Diablo:

(I'm not sure if the "item drop sound" accompanied it though. My memory may be failing me, but I remember it just being the tinkling of the gold...)

Came here for this. Thanks for not disappointing.

That's a classic but me personally, I prefer the OG ps3 game start sound before they got rid of it.

That and the 360 achievement sound.

I used to hear that in my sleep it was so good.

Oh I expected it was going to be the sound a lead pipe makes when you hit an enemy in Streets of Rage 2 ;). But yes, the sound you choose is pretty great.

Now THAT is a classic childhood sound for me.
You know you're in for some classics. First Blood, Rambo [part 2], The Wizard, Lock Up, Jacob's Ladder, T2, Total Recall...

Freaking Cutthroat Island killed them...

I honestly don't even remember their logo as much as I do the one from TriStar, who distributed a few of their more popular films in the US.

This however is literally the first logo I had ever seen at the theater:

Can't really argue with OP here.

That's ingrained in my memory forever. We lost the immediacy of startup of cartridge-based consoles that gen, but we got that sweet, sweet sound.

Pretty partial to the "ffftok" hitmarker sound in the call of duty series. And I'm not even particularly a fan of CoD.

My man! Legendary drop is the best sound ever.
