No clue whether or not people have gotten any spoilers regardless, but it's now floating around the Internet playable on any hacked console, be careful guys :)

I'm furious because someone could leak the story, but also curious to see if someone can answer some of the questions there are on the Octopath preview thread lol

Yea just saw it passing by....well I am sure it still will sell well. The piracy scene is still small.

Just like every game.

Well, not really. Sure, some games get released early to select areas, but this is the first major release since the Switch was easy to hack and any rube can download and run fairly easily.

Spoilers will probably more prevalent than usual, so well worth a warning.

The release is in two days. Anyone who was willing enough to get it already have the game.

Has the hacking scene now progressed that any backup is playable on any hacked Switch? Wasn't it before that you could only play your own backups?

Yeah, you can either pay money for a professional, easy to use backup launcher that even includes eshop games now, or there's a free implementation that looks trickier and only works with carts.

Even if the game is unlawfully free i'll pay for it, like i paid for the "free" yakuza game.
Anyway, thanks for the heads up, i'll avoid youtube homepage like a plague.

How easy is it? I hope it won't be as bad as the DS was.

Bridge two pins in the right joycon connector, hold some buttons, fire a payload over USB from a PC/Phone/Dedicated adaptor and then either mess with some directories or buy the commercial loader with some isos on your SD Card and you're done :/

My copy actually arrived in the post this morning so I imagine there'd be spoilers out there anyway regardless of leaks.

And it plays every retail game on every FW? Well that sucks.

If most did, we'd not have seen a massive and on going banning spree. These meticulous offline pirates do not exist, and they now have a finite supply.

Well if they're banned, they're offline now and still free to do what they like. The Switch still works and hell, even with the bans, patches can apparently still be downloaded.

Nothing is going to completely fix nVidia's cock up. But that wasn't the point of my statement.

Seeing both Switch Hacks subreddits and GBATemp there are more people willingly playing offline than you might think. Blocking the DNS is also no problem with Pi-Hole or OpenDNS if your router doesn't block it completely.

Also my post was more about them getting banned and just not caring cause they still can play offline.

But most pirates are idiots and will fuck it up yeah.

One thing to note is that I did read that a tool was released to clear the Switch's logs... And that triggered bans for the pirates that wanted to be prudent lmao.

These are tiny communities. Literally fractions of a percent, and therefore largely irrelevant to broader use. Not to mention that most of them are simply trying to justify being banned.

It kinda sucks for the dev team that there is no online interaction in any way so it doesn't incentivize people (and people who pirate) to use its online features or benefit from. I'm not saying there needs to be heavy multiplayer or anything but something small like how Monster Hunter World has a daily bulletin of upcoming updates.

I know they are two totally different games so it's hard to really think of a feature to use this.

I guess ultimately if people say they never will go online on their switch and use it solely for "home brew" mean it

Yet my Cultura is still not putting the game on their shelves. :'(

That being said I still haven't decided if I care enough about homebrew to wait for Atmosphere release before playing the game, or if I'll just play it as soon as the box is in my hands knowing it will update my switch to 5.0....

Brings me back to the good old days of DS. I remember FFTA2 rom came out a few weeks before release date.

France here, just received the game (and Captain Toad). I think a lot of people have the game, even without piracy. So yeah, watch out about spoilers :)
