Sometimes. I still buy physical copies for certain games (recent examples being RE8 and Mass Effect Legendary Edition).

Nope, haven't tried it. In the DF breakdown of the Series X, they mention how one of the dimensions is decided by the size of the disc drive.. I would have taken a smaller console without the disc drive and a 25$ price cut.

Yes, but only for backward compatibility. I still have 0 physical X game (and only 3 on PS5).

I have a series s and pretty much daily miss the disc drive, it's one of the main reasons I will upgrade for a series x down the line. There are some backwards compatibility games that are disc only but more importantly is the fact that a lot of xbox, xbox 360 and xbox one games in my country can be gotten far cheaper preowned than ps4 versions can be and way cheaper than digital versions on xbox often are. When I got my one x last year I grabbed some used disc games on ebay and the like, got modern warfare 2019 for £8, got red dead 2 and gta 5 for £16 combined. The true limiting factor for me going all digital as I actually prefer digital is the fact that publishers just don't lower their prices often to the levels you can buy discs at. Hell I wanted to grab a digital copy of black ops 4 for my series s as my copy was on disc and I refuse to pay even £15 for a cod that old now just because Activision refuses to actually lower prices, ended up just getting the ps plus version on ps4 instead and playing there.

I used once to watch Red Heat a few months ago but that was a DVD. I have yet to put an actual game disc in though.

Yep. Pretty much only when I rent games from GameFly though.

Edit: Wow, after reading through more of this thread, I'm surprised more people don't use the disk drive for game rentals. Not every game is on Game Pass, and not every game is worth $60-$70. Same with the PS5. I would've been upset paying $70 for Returnal, but for me the game was the perfect rental.

Those services aren't really a thing in many places outside the US. Sure aren't in Canada at least

I have a huge box of 360 games so I use it for those.

Yes, I still prefer physical games even with the Game Pass library etc. and I watch blu-rays on it. Too bad that the disc drive makes a lot of noise if there's an Ultra HD blu-ray inside, way more than the Xbox One S ever did. Sucks.

Not yet, but I have a ton of BC Xbox/x360 games I could use it with if I get that itch. I'd rather have it than not.

I have used it to play a UHD and Blu-ray disc. It has some problems with that. The UHD goes black after a while or loses sound. Hoping that's fixed.

Bruh I haven't used a disc in an Xbox console since Mass Effect 3 on X360!

As far as Xbox games, all digital (more confidence in their BC future).

PS and Nintendo, always physical though, since if I want, resale is great.

Wish Sony would git gud at BC cause I'd love to go all digital for them as well

I do for the complete version of GTA IV because you can't access Episodes From Liberty City DLC form the Xbox Store on the Series X. I also got a good deal on Crash 4 physically, so I swap between those two mainly.

I bought Like a Dragon day one on disc, then when it came to gamepass I sold the disc and used the money to buy Forza Horizon 3. I also have RE8 on disc.... so yes.

Used it for Valhalla and Village and it will continue to be a minority usage.

I was physical media last gen but I'm very tempted to buy Battlefield digitally for the ease of swapping between it and other Game Pass titles. Plus I trust Microsoft long-term to keep digital purchases supported.

Nope not yet. XSX is my main console this gen so I will use it eventually for 3rd party games that most likely won't show up on Gamepass.

No. I keep telling myself that I need to buy at least one physical game to test it before the warranty wears off (in case it's not working lol).

For some BC games that aren't available digitally like Arkham Origins. That's it though.

Yes, because Ace Combat 6 Fires Of Liberation is impossible to play any other way. I've checked everywhere digitally.

Is there a digital storefront selling a code somewhere? The MS store itself does not.

I do not yet have an Xbox Series X. When I do, I will continue to exclusively buy retail games, so I will use the disc drive, yes.

The only Xbox I could land came with 2K21 in a bundle, so I played that for a bit;
Then I watched some 4K Blue Planet 2 with a friend...
That's it. To be fair I just moved and don't have the 360 disc box out yet.

Nope! I tried the UHD BR player, but it gave me some issues so I just got a dedicate player and moved on.

My daughter exclusively uses it for the Harry Potter blu rays.

Then it's annoying and a bit noisy when I play a game or something. It seems to spin the disc even when the app isn't on. Does the Blu-ray app use quick resume or something I wonder?

Yep. 4k bluray and quite a few physical games.

I am mostly digital on modern Xbox games but there are exceptions and a lot of old og xbox and 360 games that I haven't rebought digitally yet.
