Quantum Break.... Is kinda cool??
A relic of the TV TV TV, but it's actually kinda done really well? I dig it
Currently replaying Morrowind on GP. I'm amazed at how many details I remember. Quest to go find some relatively obscure NPC in Balmora? I can walk right up to her house without a second thought. Go talk to this person in Mar Gaan? Don't even need the directions. One of the artifacts, Mentor's Ring, is in some random crypt in the southwest swamps? I know exactly how to get there. All the NPC names even started coming back to me as I walked around new towns.
The game has certainly aged and might be difficult for newcomers to get into, but I'll be damned if this isn't still the best game I've ever played. The background history of this title makes it all the more impressive. After a few commercial disasters, Bethesda Games Studio was running on fumes and on the verge of shutdown. Todd Howard made the pitch to go big or go broke with this alien world on OG Xbox and PC, not sure if console players could even play a game like this, and the rest is history. Who knows if Arkane, MachineGames, Tango, or Id would even be operating right now, let alone part of Xbox.
It always struck me that, during the BGS segment of the Xbox/Bethesda roundtable, Ashley Chang (BGS's representative) put it: "On behalf of everyone at BGS, I wanna thank everyone who played Morrowind back in the day, and every game we've made since." There's certainly a reverence around the game. It's always missing in those "most influential games" threads, but Morrowind's success made a lot of later things possible. Might be worthy of a separate thread.
The one game I'm the most salty about missing. I even bought it back on og Xbox, but couldn't get into it due to the performance issues. I absolutely love oblivion and Skyrim and a Morrowind remaster would easily be one of my most anticipated gamesCurrently replaying Morrowind on GP. I'm amazed at how many details I remember. As someone who bounced off Yakuza 0 about 3 times, I'm shocked by how much I'm loving Like a Dragon. Ichiban is just a great character and I prefer the Turn Based combat to a beat-em up.
Only gripe is, I wish it was fully voiced. It mostly is, but sometimes it's odd when I feel like what is an important beat is text-only. It's not a deal-breaker or anything just a bit odd.
combat is slick. i might return to Control on PC after finishing this up. Game Pass version was crashing on me a lot so I put it on ice. I also have it on EGS now since they gave it away, but I don't wanna redownload it or replay it to where I was just for stability hopes...

People really need to stop giving a select group so much attention and credit and let these things happen naturally. Acquisitions are notoriously difficult to track, especially now. No one is going to know.
Yup, I see Jez and Grubb misquoted here constantly. The takes are reaching ridiculous levels again. First, Jez is not an "insider", he is a reporter doing his freaking job. Stop using this term, you are using it wrong.
Second, if he says he saw documents, then that's a fact, no matter what you, as an entitled gamer demanding binary information, think. He clearly never said this will result in anything, no one ever did, it's just the typical "let's jump to conclusions" syndrome that exists here every time. I saw the document as well, it's legit, but whether if it was old or whatever is something I don't know.
Third, and I don't know how many times this needs to be repeated, Xbox getting more studios is not an if situation - it's when. This is official information available to anyone. It's common sense. It's common knowledge.
Fourth, everyone in here, including the people criticising him now, happily took his info on Contraband, IOI and so much more. Some of the statements I'm seeing now here have a hollow ring as a result.
This forum seems to have huge problems lately creating proper quotes by industry people and reporters. I also see allegedly statements by Jeff Grubb quoted here all the time, which, if I take the time and actually check the source, don't exist in that form or are so heavily changed that an opinion is suddenly inside information.
All these people don't owe you anything. They are doing their job. It's up to you individually to ignore them if you don't believe them, but as soon as they have an exclusive scoop, you will come back crawling again anyway.

There is something oddly satisfying about removing a game from your console when you beat it. Almost like my backlog book I keep and when I'm done I can cross it off :PJust finished Doom Eternal on gamepass. Enjoyed it very much.
This is also cool about gamepass. If a bought the game i probably would have tried some battlemode and some replay of missions. Just to get more out of my money technically. Even tho i felt i played enough. Not the case with gamepass. I finished it now. I enjoyed. Perfect amount of time spent on it also for me. I finished the game and i deleted it. And that feels good
well said Klob ..well said. especially with the bolded. That's said, I hope the next acquistion or acquisitions will be a surprise just like it was with Bethesda. That is a day I'll never forget. 😅The takes are reaching ridiculous levels again. First, Jez is not an "insider", he is a reporter doing his freaking job. August is so fuckin insane between Psychonauts 2, Hades, Recompile, and 12 minutes.........Just bought Death's Door. Looking forward to play it!
I have a crazy amount of games I want to play this year. This month there's Deaths Door, The Ascent and Flighr Sim. Next month Hades and Psychonauts 2. And ofcourse Forza and Halo.
Also playing stuff on PS5 and Switch.
I'm drowning in games, I love it. My younger self would be jealous of me😊
Absolutely! I loved Bards Tale IV. When the combat clicks everything falls into place. There's a bit of a learning curve to it, but I like how strategic it is. And yeah, the soundtrack is god tier. Allow me to post this yet again.I would recommend The Bard's Tale IV, which seems to be flying under the radar with people. Not necessarily to people looking for an RPG, though it's certainly that, but more to people with a passion for puzzle games that also enjoys RPGs. Everything in the game is practically a puzzle, from the environments to the battles to even some of the weapons, it's almost closer to games like The Talos Principle or The Witness than you would expect from a dungeon crawler.
The puzzles aren't quite as ingenious as in those games and there is some repetition in later areas, but it's still throughly enjoyable for puzzle fans. The Gaelic soundtrack also lends it more personality than one would imagine looking at the somewhat drab screenshots. It's so distinct, so memorable, so... Exactly like you wanted Bard's Tale to sound.
I don't know how the Xbox version runs, since I played it on PC Game Pass, but that version could have used a little more polish. It's awesome to see the reception to Wasteland 3, which is such a fantastic game, but Inxile has another title on Game Pass (several actually) worth a look.
Yeah, that's something that's true as well. Acquisitions are entirely different league of information because the talks happen constantly and all the time (not that anything comes from it, mind you) and because the only people who really know about acquisitions happening are higher level executives, the legal teams and some of the accounting/auditing division. These people that know often aren't the type to leak out such information (especially from MS or any other publicly traded company) and so it makes having the scoop unlikely. That being said though, I honestly think that at least one of Grubb's Xbox sources is an exec or someone pretty high up there but I digress.people need to recognize how hard it is to actually have the right connections to get any info when it comes to acquisition stuff.
Pair that with the fact that acquisitions take time and needless to say, I would take any acquisition talk with a healthy amount of skepticism. As others have said, it's a matter of when not if on acquisitions, so just chill, and go enjoy the some 30 games launching into gamepass day 1 between now and the end of the year lol.
It's funny how GamePass has given us DQ11, Octopath, and Yakuza 7 in relatively short order. Fans of JRPGs have eaten well.
12 Minutes is coming to Game Pass, right?
But not Death's Door? Maybe I'll buy that, then.

People are really not ready how that will look
It's a timed exclusive. The Ascent looks great. Do we know that it's timed exclusive or full exclusive?
