I'm sure it's more of a self respect thing for you, for passing on a higher priced PS5......but it's really a financial reason, you can always sell you PS4 Pro to make up for it + some. Unless you were going to get the PS5 Digital.

Yeah exactly, get rid of these old consoles for $300 or whatever and put that towards the next gen.

I don't see any reason to own them anymore.

No way they launch again around that price point. They would doom this generation to be like PS360, which was too long.

hmm tough Q. I was hoping to keep my total launch budget to around 600-700 total (system, games) so I probably might choose to wait. Ideally, 499 is the max I would like to go for

Nah, I'll wait it out with my One X at that price. I'm honestly still on the fence no matter the price but I'm leaning towards buying series X for $500

Not chance. $600USD is like $800CAD. Add taxes to that, and you're getting close to $900.

Honestly, I'm not even considering $500USD. I may just be sitting out this console generation for a couple of years.

Yes because your essentially getting a high-end PC (as of Aug 12th 2020) for that $600.
Sony should have 3-5 console exclusive games worth getting at launch.. Series X has GP and BC.

I paid $599 for the PS3 at launch. So why not?

Seems like people can drop 1K easily on new phones...

but mention 599 for next gen and people wanna riot

Still waiting on the launch info, but if there are games I want to play and given the tech inside these consoles, yeah I would. Won't complain if they're cheaper though.

Yes. $600 for a console that'll last the next 7 years or whatever, that I'll use quite often? Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. Would I love for it to be $499 or less? Of course. But an extra $100 isn't going to stop the sale for me.

$600 for a videogame console at launch is first world stuff, but I still would. It's something I'll be using for years and longer than my iPhone model.

there will probably be another stimulus check anyways.

I hope that price point is a terrifying no-fly-zone for the manufacturers, to be honest.

So, no. Hell no.

I think there was a point awhile back that I would have, but knowing how slim the launch lineups are likely to be, and how relatively small the graphical leap thus far seems to be at launch, I would hold off if it's that high.

But I think they would be pretty crazy to price it that high.

No, I'll wait till end of next year when maybe they're $499 or when Ratchet & Clank and Horizon 2 come out.

If the ps5 digital edition is that much at launch (highly doubtful), I'd still buy it. I'm about to sell my ps4 and still have some sony exclusives to go through, so it's worth it for that alone for me.

If Sony release their nextgen console at 600 dollars, it would take how long to we have price cap??
at least 2 years??
no way I would stay without PS5 for more 2 years, so, it will still be day one for me...

No way. $600 is like your rent money. We all saw how that went with the PS3.

And what's worse is that these consoles are coming out during this pandemic in which millions of people are out of work. Adding in a higher price tag is a hard sell, even at $500.

If DF are suggesting this is a distinct possibility, people should start taking that onboard over what the echo-chamber has declared

Given the lackluster launch lineups of both (Xbox even more so now)... No, I will wait until a game that's worthy is out. Or multiple games.

Yeah, It's not a financial reason. I mean, i 'm going to be paying more than that for the video card alone when i'm building the new PC.

On the console side i don't feel like it's worth it for me if it goes for more than 500$ because i can play all the new multiplatform games on PC. Id' rather wait for a PS5 sale or price drop and get back on the track with the exclusives later.

And the Pro is not going anywhere. I keep all my consoles, even when there's backwards compatibility.
All of them are hooked up and i play them regularly by rotation.

Might sound weird but i kinda get attached to my hardware and i couldn't let them go. I even have my old phones up to 15 years ago.

Hell no. Wouldn't pay more than $399 with an amazing launch lineup.

I'm not the buy a console at launch type though.

Sure, I think people expecting $400 are not gonna be happy. I've been setting money aside for this for at least a year. It's already covered

I wouldn't pay anything for next-gen at launch, since I'd prefer to wait until the games I want begin to pop up on the systems. So uh, nope.

Depends on the regional pricing. If that's like $1000 AU then I'm out considering the games I want to play (Bugsnax and Kena) are on PS4 as well.
I'd see what happens by the time Ratchet or Horizon release.

$599 is my maximum. I've budgeted in a PS5 purchase into my spending this year. I'm willing to plunk down a big chunk of change.

I hope it's $499-$549 at most.
