I just bought the digital version of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled for PS4 in the last sales, despite of having the Switch version of the game already. The reason for this is that I was really disappointed with the resolution of the game in the Nintendo system and it is one that I finished and enjoyed. However, this is not a common thing for me to do at all. I am not the kind of guy who usually double-dips or buys a game several times.

This made me think of the following: What is the game you have bought more times? For which systems? What were your reasons for doing so?

(I am sure ERA members will come up with utterly surprising answers).

I bought at least a dozen copies (Steam codes) of Hotline Miami to give away on the old site. It was on sale for like a dollar!

I would say FFVII. The original, greatest hits PS1, when it came out via square Enix website, and then steam. and if it counts, Remake.

Probably Xenoblade Chronicles, which I bought four times:
  1. Imported from Europe
  2. Original American release
  3. 3DS re-release
  4. Definitive edition for Switch this year

No regrets.

I've brought Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider about 3 times each.

PC first then PS4 then Xbox. In the case of TR2013, I'm pretty sure I never spent more than $5.

Don't think I've bought on more than two platforms, but I have (IMHO) double dipped too often! Have curbed that some since double-dipping on Borderlands 3 back in April when it came to Steam (had it on PS4 prev), as I have invested 99% of my free time in that game.

Not the game I rebought the most, but I just so happenedto buy Dark Souls in the Switch sale an hour or so ago. So that's PS3, 360, PS4, Switch Physical (which I lost) and now Switch digital.

I can't think of anything I've bought more than twice. Super Mario Bros. DX on GBC if that counts. Doom 3 BFG Edition for Doom 3. The various Mario Advance games although they're also kind of enhanced more than just straight ports.

Actually I'll say Doom. 32X, SNES, PSX and PS3 collection.

Dark Souls is the only one that I can even think of. Got the PS3 original as a gift, but by the time I got around to playing it the remaster was out, so I got that on pc instead.

For old console games that I already own, I'll just use emulators rather than buy rereleases.

I guess it's Diablo 3, on PC, PS4 and Switch.

Also have Borderlands 2 on PC, Vita and PS4 (HC), but the HC was a gift.

Ah, and I bought Gravity Rush 3 times (Vita and 2x on PS4 - the first purchase was refunded due to pricing error on my local PSN, but the license took like 6 months to expire, so I played it "for free" and spent the refund on other stuff. Bought it again recently then).

If remakes count... Ratchet trilogy on PS2, the remasters on PS3, then the digital version on sale when a friend had borrowed my physical copy, then the remake on PS4 which is the game based on the film based on the game, then the digital version of that one when it was on sale.

I also bought bugsnax on PS4 knowing I would get it again for free 3 days later with my PS5. What was I supposed to play that weekend that felt a lifetime? I'm glad it counts for 2 platinum.

Excluding sports games probably ChronoTrigger and Street Fighter 2 (if that counts because there were like 7 versions of this game and I must have bought it at least 5 times).

I love CT so much that other than on phones (where I did buy it) I will buy and complete it on every platform it comes out for. I think the most recent one was DS and that was a ton of fun. That game never seems to get old for me.
