Tiger Drop in Yakuza games but it actually makes the combat much better especially in 1 & 3 (still need to get through to 4-6)

Playing Royal in Demon's Souls. I waltzed through that game like it was nothing; such a crazy difference in difficulty.

Yeah I came here to post this. I've played a couple souls games before, and just wanted an easier time of this one so I picked Royal because I heard it was overpowered. It definitely feels like cheating just blowing away all the enemies with magic.

Anyway, buying the achievements in Nier felt like cheating, but I felt like the game was criticizing how dumb achievements are generally and I was there for that.

When I played Fallout 3 I had that glitch happen where your allies become literally invincible. I guess I could've benched them, but tbh I think I just found it more fun to not worry so much about combat. Not sure if it's "not actually cheating" if it's a bug, but it's a weird passive bug that seems to happen without you doing anything. Thanks Bethesda.

Does having gyroscopic controls in crossplay games count? I own other console players when playing Rogue Company on Switch.

Master ball in Pokemon.

FFAR in Warzone, but it should get nerfed soon.

- Breaking elemental rods in Final Fantasy V trivializes most bosses especially until mid-game
- Metal Blade in Mega Man 2 breaks the game, Shadow Blade in Mega Man 3 is almost same
- using Thief Ring to reduce enemy/boss sights on you in Demon's Souls, combine this with magic and you are unbeatable in PvE
- manual saving before a tight spot in 90's PC games, then reloading if you mess stuff up - makes everything breeze if you can save the game everywhere

Midgar, With Love
grinding in a JRPG to the point where the final boss is trivialized. I always feel bad but I'm like... I didn't switch the difficulty, the option is there and I put in the work. Beat FFXIII-2 last night after reading how hard the final boss could be and I steamrolled him from doing tons of sidequests

Yep.

EXP share in Pokemon, even the concept doesn't make sense. The level 2 spearow you never use will be level 50-60 at the end of the game despite never leaving the ball
Summoning in Souls. Will never not feel dirty.
So many good answers, I also felt this about power armor in fallout 4, as long as you had the power things to keep it going.

Same with the magnum is Resident evil or evil within, if you save the ammo you collect for it along the way you can rip through the final levels where they usually throw everything at you.

I exploit cloud saves to avoid annoying run ups to bosses in Souls games. Shameful, I know.

Tactics Ogre, the wheel of fate where you can go and change everything you did with characters by going back turns and choosing a different action.

I haven't played it much since the beta, but Fighting EX Layer had power you could give your character that would make them go invisible. It felt like very few people knew how to really play against it at the time. I was using it while playing the grappler character, and I have never cackled so much while playing a video game.

Levelling in Tree of Savior.

You pretty much one-shot everything, and two or three shot bosses to the point where you never see any of their mechanics. You can go up hundreds of levels within a week.

It's intended so you can get to the end-game. It's kind of fun at first being able to steamroll, but after a while the lack of challenge really gets to me.

Flying over levels with cape Mario in Super Mario World.

Picking up Crissaegrim in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night ruined the game for me.

Any game with quicksave and quickload. Gordon Freeman may as well be a superhero with time manipulation powers from the way Half Life games let you play them.

Kind of sorta the bonus exp leveling in Xenoblade 2 where you can just rest at an in or campfire and boost your level up.

Grouping up in Overwatch competitive mode against solo queue--ers ---- also applies to any group based PvP multiplayer games.

Summoning other players in Dark Souls

It's a legitimate mechanic but these bosses are not designed to deal with two players, most of the time they'll focus on the first person to attack and completely ignore whoever isn't directly in front of them.

Fairly recent example would be the Accessibility Mode features added to the last-gen versions of Remedy's Control (I think with the AWE expansion). Next-gen versions of the game already have them by default, since they're all patched up and mostly feature complete. You can literally turn shit on like OHKO, Invincibility, ludicrously fast Energy and Service Revolver cooldown regeneration, and nothing you tweak will ever invalidate trophies or achievements. You can run the entire game in literal God Mode and get your Platinum or 1,500 Gamerscore or whatever, and the game won't give a crap. I think it's hilarious.

Being summoned in Dark Souls/Bloodborne also feels a bit of a cheat as well since it's a super easy way to grind a ton of souls without any consequences (since unlike normal gameplay, you don't actually loose any souls if you die.) You can hang out outside a boss arena and get 10's of thousands of souls just by running the same boss fight over and over with another person, each one taking just seconds to completely because of how broken bosses are in co-op.

Granted this only works if there's a reasonable amount of people playing, so maybe it isn't quite as effective nowadays.

uncle seth is sacred stones easy mode toggle

it's actually easier to solo the game with him than play it normally spreading the xp to everyone

Detective vision in games is basically cheating.

As for multiplayer games, hit/threat indicators when being shot.

If you do a lot with the card game (especially in the very beginning) of FF VIII the entire game is laughable regarding difficulty.

Sonic Rush's special stages were bullshit so I beat them all by literally pausing, positioning my stylus, and unpausing
I dunno how people had the reflexes to beat them. Must be former Battletoad players or something
