Hear me out

Wait until 30 Republican Senators are in self-quarantine

Pass impeachment articles for both Trump and Pence out of the House immediately

Declare majority in the Senate when Democrats hold a 2-1 majority, immediately hold conviction vote for both and remove them

Temporarily appoint Elizabeth Warren as Speaker of the House so she ascends to the presidency

Palpatine says do it.

Jennifer Jacobs @JenniferJJacobs

"Well, I'm sort of exhausted. But other than that, I'm good. I mean, I'm not, to my knowledge, coronavirus infected. To my knowledge, I haven't been fired," Fauci says with a laugh.https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/i-m-going-keep-pushing-anthony-fauci-tries-make-white-house-listen-facts-pandemic … https://twitter.com/sciencecohen/status/1241872306550362112 …

Josh Dawsey @jdawsey1

He says he would never call it the Chinese virus. Regarding Trump at the podium? "I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down. OK, he said it. Let's try and get it corrected for the next time." https://twitter.com/maggienyt/status/1241891594820825090 …

Daniel Dale @ddale8

Fauci: "I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down." He says he does what he can - tell the "appropriate people" who can advise Trump not to repeat things. (Still, Fauci has done more live-correcting than literally anyone who's appeared with Trump since 2017.)

Journalist Jon Cohen to Fauci: What Trump said about China, transparency and the virus timeline just doesn't comport with the facts.

Fauci: "I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let's get real, what do you want me to do?" https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/i-m-going-keep-pushing-anthony-fauci-tries-make-white-house-listen-facts-pandemic …

He's LEADING by not voting. Considering he never started voting until he was in his 40s, it's a feature not a bug for him.

Trump refusing to use the Defense Production Act shoots down the argument that he'll become a fucking national socialist lol.
I wouldn't predict that he will, only that 20-30% unemployment (should it come) and very weak internal GOP guardrails present opportunities for a racist, unprincipled desperate demagogue that we should stay on guard for.

Joe Biden was completely silent this week (except for Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday) during the biggest crisis of our generation. I don't like him and he hasn't earned by vote but #wheresjoe? Why is he not leading from his position of power as former VP? Frankly I am going to vote third party from my seat on Massachusetts and post on the internet a lot about it.

Only reason Mitch doesn't want remote voting imo is cause it make it harder for him to 'call people into his office' and leverage things against them or sway with whatever methods he utilizes to get them to vote along party lines no matter what.

John Cornyn, in response to the observation that Republicans are shortchanging healthcare workers: https://twitter.com/JohnCornyn/status/1241889311294918657 …

9:36 PM - Mar 22, 2020

Senator John Cornyn @JohnCornyn

8:47 PM - Mar 22, 2020

Chuck Schumer @SenSchumer

We voted no on the McConnell-GOP bill because among other problems it includes huge bailouts without protections for people and workers and without accountability, and because it shortchanges our hospitals and healthcare workers who need our help.

These changes need to be made.

Lets say Dems do get a one vote Majority. I doubt Mitch wants to delay this shit any further. House really needs to put out a bill either later tonight or early tomorrow.

It's fine that Bernie wants to do all these online events to get donations for covid relief, inform people, etc.

Does he have to stay in the primary to do so? I don't think so.

Totally normal that they havent updated the CDC site in days.

One of the local hospital systems at the middle of the tempest here in Washington (Evergreen) posts number of cases total since first case ID, number of cases discharged w/o inpatient care, number of inpatient cases now discharged, and number of deaths. Every single day at 2PM.

People have been using the wrong word (R) for what's ahead because they can't wrap their brains around the magnitude of what we're having to do here.

Any drive through any small to medium sized town while looking at the notes on the door tells the story. The effects at play here at outright cataclysmic.

Forget small or medium. I'm in a huge city outside nyc and if the government isn't paying these restaurants' rent for the next three months this place will be wiped out.

Jennifer Shutt @JenniferShutt

Mnuchin and Ueland walked into Schumer's office for their fifth meeting of the day about three minutes ago. Mnuchin said they're getting closer on a bipartisan stimulus package.

They just walked back into McConnell's office. https://twitter.com/jennifershutt/status/1241889172622884868 …

Jonathan Nicholson@JNicholsonInDC

Mnuchin on way to Schumer's says they're getting close. Asked how close, he holds up two fingers about an inch apart. "This close."

I have no faith in Schumer being able to negotiate without Nancy in the room to keep him from fucking up.

I hope they put McConnell on blast for this shit. Not just Dems, but Mnuchin and Trump. Yea they can blame the Dems for not agreeing to the original bill, but now that Mnuchin is working with Schumer on their bill, they should be throwing McConnell under the bus for trying to screw with the people who were originally the intended target for this bill.

The "you need to make negotiations bilateral between Mnuchin and Pelosi and sideline the Senate" take is probably correct.

The "you need to make negotiations bilateral between Mnuchin and Pelosi and sideline the Senate" take is probably correct.

Triangulating the GOP Senate out of the picture by abusing the fact that they are not independent but slaved to the administration's wishes is 100% the right legislative approach. Individual senators have low immediate needs to answer to, Trump OTOH would do almost anything if he thought it would get him re-elected.
