How does Erdogan do it?

Sue for voter fraud, win because you appoint the judges, have new elections until you win.

Trump is more powerful because he has a passable party majority on lawmakers and judges in the checks and balances process. He doesn't even need to take the military route.

Plus, the 2nd amendment somewhat counters the military option in the US.

I'm reading this thread in a food court and an old man sitting at another table looks like a carbon copy of Mitch McConnell.

If he loses, he is no longer President on 1/20/21. If he just refuses to physically leave the White House, he will be escorted out by the Secret Service, because he's not the President anymore.

He and the GOP can contest elections results and go to the courts (which they own).

He won't wait until 1/20/21 to contest battleground states.

Think Gore vs Bush with a bought supreme court.

The confederation of loosely connected states calling themselves "America" is a democratic joke of epic proportions. Get your shit in line or be hence known as the laughingstock of the world.

The President doesn't have the power to remain in office. He doesn't have any say over elections, he doesn't have to agree with the outcome.

If he loses, he is no longer President on 1/20/21. If he just refuses to physically leave the White House, he will be escorted out by the Secret Service, because he's not the President anymore.

You sound overly confident.

So, all those redacted ongoing investigations that Mueller delegated. The DOJ can snuff every single one of them out, and no one would be the wiser as long as they remain redacted, right?

What court? Contest how?

States run elections, states send representatives to the electoral college. You can't really contest the electoral college results. They will vote in December, and will vote how their states do.

This is not a realistic fear.

No. That information has already been handed out to other heads of investigation. Such as SDNY. That redacted info is in the hands of more than Barr at this point.

So, any reactions from politicians yet?

Check PBS Newshour. You can see live takes (mostly from Dems) during the feed of the House Judiciary Committee gearing up to vote on whether to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for failing to produce an unredacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

It's not a matter of confidence.

All the shit the Trump administration is pulling is possible because a lot of the underpinnings of our government are based on an assumption of good faith actors.

But the election and the transfer of power? That's pretty clear.

Do you think it's impossible they fuck up the results of the election?

How does a state of emergency effect an election or the transfer of power? Honest question because hes already shown hes willing to do that.

It doesn't change anything about the transfer of power

There is nothing short of a military coup that can prevent the new president from being sworn in. Unless Trump has full, undying loyalty of a large faction in the military (he doesn't), then there's no way he can remain in power if he loses.

I live in a giant bucket.
White House says House Democrat is trying to "break the law" by requesting unredacted Mueller report

Moments after the White House announced President Trump would assert executive privilege over special counsel Robert Mueller's report, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders slammed House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, whom she said is seeking to "break the law" with his requests for the unredacted report.
"They're asking for information they know they can't have. The attorney general is actually upholding the law," Sanders said, adding, "Chairman Nadler is asking the attorney general of the United States to break the law and commit a crime by releasing information that he knows he has no legal authority to have. It's truly outrageous and absurd what the chairman is doing and he should be embarrassed that he's behaving this way."
She attacked Nadler's understanding of the law, saying that she feels she "(understands) it better than he does."

Sarah Sanders as despicable as ever. The day she leaves the White House can't come soon enough.

Can someone just punch the president in the neck?

I don't condone murder, but just a good old fashion ass whooping. I doubt the president can fight so we can just get like Elizabeth Warren to do. She looks like she'd cut someone if she had to.
