You make a great point on the short hair. They had a great AI companion in Wolf Link in BotW. It would be fun if they built on that and made Zelda a full AI companion, or perhaps controllable second player. If this is a story of Zelda saving Link thats kinda interesting from a story perspective but not at all from a gameplay perspective.
DO IT. The Master Trials are INTENSE AF. And the second pack have some of the best Shrines in the game, hands down. And the final boss.... WHEW. Don't spoil it for yourself, just play them.
I'm guessing there'll be slightly more dialogue than the first game. Though it remains to be seen if Zelda again needs rescuing. If she's playable, I assume she'll talk less so that NPCs will say roughly the same things to her and Link.

The surprising thing is that it's a direct sequel. That doesn't happen often with Zelda titles.
Not an explosion. Hyrule Castle was being lifted into the sky like Skyloft.
Almost every big Zelda has had a sequel. MM, phantom hourglass, ALBW, etc.
