Mostly
adverb

  1. as regards the greater part or number.

This could mean that if Nintendo announces 20 games and 11 are coming in 21, the "mostly" part would still be correct.

Yeaaaah, gonna have to say that I also don't imagine we'll be getting much from Capcom.

They got:
  • Monster Hunter Rise updates
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2
  • Street Fighter V Season 5
  • Resident Evil VIII DLC and whatever that multiplayer mode is
  • Ports to be announced to Stadia and other places
  • And Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
That I'm sure will be enough to fill up their showcase.

Same goes for Namco who has:
  • Tales of Arise
  • Scarlet Nexus
  • Elden Ring (probably just going to get the trailer re-shown lol)
  • Dark Pictures
  • Little Nightmares II
Could definitely seeing them announcing Klonoa Encore at the Direct though.

"Mostly" to me implies more of a presence than the typical "focused" but that's kinda just semantics and Nintendo hasn't used "mostly" before to describe a Direct line up so any empirical analysis isn't possible (honestly I'm bored enough that I might've tried if it was)

For me it's the opposite, if they say "focused" I can see it only showing those, but "mostly" necessarily means that there will be other things too.

I really hope we get Trails of Azure/Zero localisations announcement during the Direct or anything from Falcom

First off, hey buddy! How you been?
Second, I really do think it's difficult at this point to ignore Clouded Leopard's ports. Watched game of Zero and Ao and they both looked great on the Switch. Really wish NISA could figure something out to speed the localization process along.

This E3 has honestly felt so weird to me because it almost feels like so few big new games got revealed?

Like we're nearing the end of the showcases and all I can recall is Guardians, the Avatar game, Stranger of Paradise, and Forza Horizon 5. The rest that we've seen so far have been updates to previously announced/released titles.

And I mentioned how those were the ones I remembered, yet the only one I'm excited for is Forza Horizon 5…

To me, "mostly" means it's gotta be at least a 2:1 ratio. So if there are 15 games announced, at least 10 of them should be 2021. If there are only 10 games, at least 6 and probably 7 should be 2021. And so on and so forth.

Redfall and Mario+Rabbids 2 are missing from here.

But a lot of publishers already announced their release schedules for the next few years to get people hyped for next gen.

(Avatar had been announced a few years ago and is not a new announcement fwiw)

I actually think Grubb tweeting what wasn't going to show at Microsoft's conference was kinda good. If the direct leaks I may.... may ask someone to tell me what won't show.

Midgar, With Love
the official name is the absurdly long "Stranger in Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins" (It's called Stranger in Paradise because a random dude from Japan, Jack, and his friends are sucked into the world of FF1)

It's not even being called that.

It's called Stranger of Paradise. I was told it was in when I heard about it, probably because who the heck would think otherwise.

I only want a meaty trailer for SMT V this Tuesday, anymore is already a bonus for me.

Ok... Maybe I would really love a 2D Metroid or the Prime trilogy, too.

This E3 is still very much a product of the pandemic & what it shown is reflection of that.

Given that Splatoon 3 was announced in February, but released in 2022.
I don't think we can expect much in terms of how many 2021 release games they're keeping under wraps.
Botw2 and MP4 will most likely be 2022, as many have speculated.
Hmm hopefully Bayonetta 3?
My hopes were tempered when I saw the footage of Babylon being developed by Platinum Games.

The issue with the comparison is that Microsoft had like 12 games announced for the distant future.

Nintendo has a few games that will obviously be there and four games announced for the distant future.

This part.
This part is what I hated most about last gen.
Really felt like so many developers had shown off what they were going to release from the rest of the generation between 2015 and 2016.

It's probably why pretty much every E3 afterward outside of E3 2018 (since 2019 was an amazing year for releases) was so boring, because if something was announced and hadn't been released yet, that's what you know was going to get covered.

Still remember seeing a new trailer for We Happy Few at every single gaming event for three years, only for the final product to be so disappointing.

I said this elsewhere but I'll say it here too. The internet at large seems to think Covid was just a speed bump when in reality it was a mountain. It's funny how so many games announced are 2022 and some 2023. Couldn't be a correlation at all.

That's definitely true and understandable. But man, it really stinks because I remember so many developers prepping for next-gen pretty early on for once (like April 2019 was when folks started getting dev kits), and was so excited to see what came next.

Of course health comes first, and we got w plethora of games to play in the meantime.

Zaragoza, Spain.
Remember the plot twist in the DQ movie? I found it kinda wholesome, and the rest of the movie was great even if you didn't like that.

FF Origins, however...

We expected a fantasy soulslike exploring the roots of FF 1 and we got a "what if Fabula Nova Crystallis BUT FANTASY" isekai.

How? Why?

I'm not even mad by leaks, this would have disappointed me even if I hadn't had a preconceived idea beforehand.

What's the point of leaking a conference the day before.. tbh i think i will get off social media tomorrow just in case. I can afford to wait a some hours to still get surprised during the show

Yep. A delay of even a few months for a few upcoming games can cause a chain reaction in a publisher's pipeline, especially if some of the projects were big undertakings.

Some people like leaks, even if it's just a day before, and I'm not going to tell them they're wrong or anything, more power to them. But for me, yeah, I'm with you. If I only have to wait one day to not know anything going into a Direct, then I'm going to do that. Every time.

I think we can expect that; sources like Bloomberg had indicated that they're keeping plenty of games for the rest of the year under wraps.

Splatoon 3 and Mario + Rabbids being 2022 releases isn't indicative of a dry H2. If it was really so dire, and they had absolutely nothing to show, we wouldn't have just gotten the most packed H1 of the Switch's lifespan so far.

Nobody was expecting Prime 4 this year anyway, hasn't been long enough since they rebooted development, especially taking the pandemic into consideration; BotW2 isn't an impossibility for this year just yet, that'll be determined in less than 48 hours; and Babylon's Fall shouldn't have any bearing on Bayonetta 3's development.

Despite COVID, H2 2021 at least appears to be pretty good all things considered. Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Battlefield 2043, Horizon Forbidden West, the usual COD/Madden/Fifa/etc, and whatever Nintendo is bringing out. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than it could have been.

I feel like some say they like leaks but then are disappointed after watching a conference that had "no surprises" because they leaked.

I can bet you a ton of those -blank- 2022 games are gonna be late 2022 or into 2023.

Granblue Re:Link being "2022," yet we're not getting any new info until December 2021 and it's like, come on, it's 2022, but we know very well it's not going to be H1 2022 lol

Anyway, i kinda feel like i would like Nintendo to explore their old IPs more again. I feel like they are only taking risk this gen on casual games. Like the way they experimented on Labo, Game garage, MK circuit, ring fit. Which sure they cost not too much money to make, but yea idk i kinda feel like we can expect too much of what's their next game going to be now.

Idk if i'm the only one feeling that way ? Like i could honestly take a break from Mario and take Eternal Darkness or even a port of Kid icarus Uprising any day.
