Apparently, there will be many doors in Valve's flagship VR game. I bet it will be called "The Office".

I completely forgot Campo Santo announced a game years ago
I also completely forgot they were bought by Valve
This must be what getting old feels like

Hello everyone. We know you've all been super patient in here, so we wanted to give you a quick preview of something we've been working on for a long time now (and expect to finish soon):

Please next time i decide to talk about piracy with western developer just slap me as hard as you can, preferably with baseball bat or something similar XD

On the bright side i played more GreedFall and i like it. Yeah it feels like AA game in every way but i enjoy being diplomat with some occasional fighting. Quests are interesting and almost always there is a twist, sometimes more than one. And for the first time in a looooong time i am interested in world lore. It is more interesting to me than main story itself (even though they are intertwined).

I find Greedfall incredibly dull and lifeless.
I cannot think of a single character that has not been just the most basic RPG-ass character so far.

One thing that I've had a hard time wrapping my head around is why the press is pushing EGS so hard. I can understand why developers support EGS (bigger cut, maybe better discoverability, less competition against other games on the same storefront), but why do games writers want it to succeed so bad? I don't remember this kind of push with other storefronts when they started out.

It's because that incoming "influencer" cut that they will get for linking to EGS games.

historically, they've always had a symbiotic relationship - they often identify with developers first before consumers. how many devs have blamed steam for their lack of success, and how many writers have listened to this conversation, time and time again? its no wonder you end up with people like grayson

I mean beyond glazing over the fact that dauntless is on the Switch, ps4 and xbox as well and is free to play

I dont get what they're trying to say comparing it to willywonka, every dies besides one person and epic retires? Lol

Yeah, I am wondering how many PC players there are versus console. The tweet makes it sound like they went from 3 million to 10 million just on PC. But Dauntless got a ton of interest after being released on PS4 and Xbox One.

Yeah. I am totally glad I get less features for the same prices or even more expensive. Totally pro consumers!

Cant anyone of those journos or freelance journos get it right?
I mean you can just compare featuresets of both clients and see which one has more features that make the experience for a consumer better, no matter if they use the features or not.

I don;t get it what that tweet was supposed to prove? At least 50 games were released on Epic Store this year, how many were successes? We don;t have any numbers for those games so let's look closes thing we have Twitch viewers and streamers. Borderlands 3 alone lost 50% of twitch viewers since launch, Dauntless currently has less than 300 viewers on Twitch, The Cycle 124 viewers, Spellbreak 18 viewers, World War Z 39 viewers, remember Auto Chess? 430 viewers. Those are all live service games launched on Epic Store in some form this year (Early Access, Beta or full release). Some of them had good launch but Epic store is not magic lamp that made every single game released there major success. There will always be games not impacted by platform where they launched (remember Minecraft?) but that doesn't change a fact that best way to achieve success is to launch everywhere at the same time if you have capacity to do it.

Regarding the EGS backlash, it is true that whenever I look at the replies to tweets, comments under a press article, or comments on Reddit, I often find people whose username I recognize. Sometimes it gets me wondering whether my social media bubble is representative of the general public.

Similarly, on Steam forums of indie games, I often encounter the same enthusiasts. I think most Steam customers do not check the forums.

You could see anti-EGS comments on Youtube channels with more mainstream appeal like one of the Linus's sub channel. The anti-EGS stance on the actual PC userbase is more far reaching than those journos hoped it to be.

People shouldn't pay attention to Ian Boudreau. The guy's a huge self absorbed moron thinking almighty because he write video game articles.
Last time we exchanged, he proceeded to insult me because I said Epic was anti-consumer.

I wonder what the response would be if Valve suddenly said "To better focus on individual games and help them succeed, as soon as we have fulfilled our contracts with current games allowed on the platform we will only allow two games to be released on Steam each week"

If they did what Epic does it would do incredible harm to indie game development.
