Because they don't do second half of the month general directs. They could this time, but it hasn't happened in 7 years.
And when's the last time a Direct was announced at 5pm?
These are patterns, not rules. They can easily break tradition.
This. We probably won't have a general Direct before March 5th or 12th. We've had one on March 8th in 2018 so early March seems reasonable.

Well for one, the last ac direct, the mobile one, was announced at a weird time too.

All I'm saying is it's just nice to know there are more chances. There's of course still times that are more likely than others. I'm not saying it's total chaos or anything going forward. Just excited by a more wide array of possibilities.

Timing of the announcement? No.
The Direct date? Yes.
I told people I'd guide them towards things without saying info directly, which is why I set the expectation of an AC Direct being a priority over a General Direct earlier in the month.
It all makes sense now...

The direct is still at the standard time, different than the announcement.
Make sure you do an OT the next time a Direct announcement is close.

I'm thinking regardless of whether it's Feb 27th or early March, a General is coming in 3 weeks no matter what. (And maybe a Nindies too?)
Just like a general direct was coming in January no matter what or was coming in early February no matter what.

Early March just makes sense to me if they have a late April release planned.
