With that logic, none of them are cool because the fatal blows and x-rays would have certainly killed the opponent already lol.
I loved Nightmare on Elm street as a kid, adored it. This was one of the few scenes that I couldn't handle.
The fatalities in modern MK are overdone. I like them but it boils down to killing, and then go ham on corpses. They just try to be edgy.
The leg beat was different. The victim likely wasn't immediately dead after the leg removal, and Quan Chi proceeded on beating him/her up. In MK of today this fatality would've been done with a decapitation first.
