For the record, I have no idea what PlayStation is planning and I can't verify June 4th but I also feel very excited like you all. Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games ever so I'll be hanging on just like the rest of you! Praise Umbasa!

Huh, this is a really good point. At this moment in time we haven't seen a single image of the next mainline Final Fantasy game. There's a hole that yearns to be filled.

People here will always assume that all of SE's games are five years away because "lol Square" but the FFXVI has been in production (not pre-production) for some time now and SE's production cycles actually aren't terribly long by AAA standards. As I always say, SE doesn't have the option of not releasing games.

I remember a year ago, people here were still insisting that FFVIIR would be like a 2022 or 2023 game, and then we got a Q1 '20 release date at E3 '19.

I would be surprised at all if FFXVI was targeting Q4 2021 or Q1 2022. Maybe it won't make that, with coronavirus, but they need a big game for that FY.

How are they able to show "a slate of games" while MS has to wait and twiddle their tumbs till July?
Didn't MS just have a showcase? I think theirs kicked off Summer Games Fest.

Whether it was good or bad is not the question. They just had a showcase. Now Sony's about to have one.

One thing a did find interesting is in the Sony financials, they said they don't expect any software delays. For partners either.

MS said they did.

New Xbox on schedule but game production may be slowed by coronavirus, Microsoft exec says

Xbox head Phil Spencer explains why he believes Xbox's game pipeline, rather than the release date of its next-gen console, is more likely to be disrupted by the coronavirus.

Maybe Sony is just further along with the software. Maybe they started earlier. Who knows.

What I expect.

- Horizon 2
- Silent Hill
- Astro Bot sequel
- Ratchet & Clank 2
- Bluepoint/Demon's Souls
- Housemarque AAA new IP
- Gran Turismo 7
- Resident Evil 8
- Crash Bandicoot 4

+ other unexpected/unanticipated games.

We might even get the official announcement/name/game of that San Diego studio that's rumoured to be working with Naughty Dog on its first title.
I like your optimism, but cut that list in half and it would be a pretty excellent showing.

Things can change, because the coronavirus situation is..... but

Although if Polyphony show Gran Turismo 7 add at least a 6 month delay to any date they announce.

Is this tweet just a shot/joke about Sony games getting years of polish before actual release? Or is there some truth to it?

Do you trust information from incredibly badly informed people?
There's a difference between an opinion on something and objective information.

He also gave heads up about a Nintendo direct + indies direct and doubled down on the direct when everyone doubted him before it shadow dropped as a mini

Unless plans change, you can assume June 4th as something Sony related. Zhuge usually drops hints closer to the time (few days) or sometimes in a reply tweet

Honestly I don't even care how far off it is. I just need a new FF to get excited about. When's the last time I didn't have that? Has there ever been such a time in my gaming career?

This is how I'm tempering my expectations: if they show A LOT of games then they're mostly only going to be quick glimpses; if they show more than quick glimpses then they're not going to be ready for launch day / launch period; there's going be a lot of MP shooters, simulation sports games and other similarly boring games; not everything will be revealed in June.

There's no rhyme nor reason to any of these. It's just me reducing chances of hype train derail.

Grubb is not "badly informed." He was right about Nintendo having an Indies Direct followed by a mini Direct in March, he was right about the new Paper Mario game, he was right about Tony Hawk, he was right about UE5, and I expect he'll be right about Sony hosting an event with a bunch of games on June 4 too. So far every tease he's made in his "summer games mess" has panned out.

Viewtiful Joe 3
Okami 3

The 3 most anticipated 3s all revealed at once. Woah.

lol not the joke, but on production is (currently) on track.

If it continues to be is the question, but I'll be optimistic in that regard.

Anyway even if there has been a delay, it's probably something we wont know since they could shift the date before the reveal, unless we get some inside info of the situation.

Think this is better, from Nibel's tweet.

I think it'll be like an E3 conference, a mix of gameplay and trailers.

I'm pretty confident Horizon 2 will get a gameplay video, and Ratchet and Clank if that's a thing. Demon's Souls, for some reason I'm not as sure about, I think that might be a trailer.

Silent Hill could just be a teaser trailer if it's only been in development for a year or so.

RE 8 would be gameplay.

Not sure about the rest.

Oh god I so so wish they announce a new Uncharted. Literally just a reveal of the new studio, and the uncharted logo, 'coming to PS5' or something. That's all I need baby.

Not entirely, he just seems to tweet out infomation that is already rumored/doing the rounds. He also said RDR2 was guaranteed to bomb because Bioshock Infinite was a huge bomb or something. Things like this and the Mass Effect trilogy seem solid enough so no reason to doubt these because Jeff explicitly said they're happening.

What?

Well I see a lot of people expecting HZD2 reveals, but then have also seen some other shit where people think HZD2 will be a launch window title lol. That's absurd if this is the first real showing of it, and given the history, 2022 is probably the earliest when we will start to see the larger generational differences from AAA games

I mean, by definition, any launch title is going to be a game that we are only now seeing our "first real showing of." It'll have a shorter pre-release marketing cycle, just by the nature of being a launch game.

I'm not saying I necessarily expect Horizon 2 at launch, but I see why people do: It'll be nearly four years since HZD this holiday, and Sony has turned to Guerilla for graphical showpieces and launch titles in the past.

I prefer not to see things that are years out, but then again at a console launch maybe it's ok to get teases of the first couple years

Horizon 2 I think is a pretty decent way off. Pretty sure it's going to introduce a lot of Destiny/Monster Hunter mechanics which will take time to implement.

I think all of Horizon 2, God of War 5, GT7, Spider-Man, and Uncharted 5 are 18-30 months away. How many of those games will Sony show at the PS5 reveal? Not sure.

In no order:
God of War 2
Horizon 2 (New Dawn)
The Silent Hill
Demon's Souls Remake
Resident Evil VIII: VILLage
Maybe an Unreal game
Spider-man 2
A Gran Turismo Game
A few games being up-converted

They are going to come out swinging
