Turned on to CNN. Trump said on Twitter today he didn't talk to Bolton, and Pence's spokesperson said it's fake too, so how can they claim executive privilege on conversations that didn't happen?

Yep, and what happens if Joe Biden isn't even the Dem nominee? Trump and his team will have endured all of this time and trouble and impeachment for...nothing. Hilarous.
"How could Trump have committed bribery for an investigation into a political rival if Biden ended up not being a political rival?! Check and mate!"

According to the right-wing media sphere, the impeachment of Hunter and Joe Biden is going fantastically.

Having Hunter Biden as a trade witness will accomplish exactly what Trump wanted from the start, to smear Biden.

He has no relevance to this case.

I believe they are trying to claim the reason for all of the aid quid pro quo was to investigate the Bidens being involved in the money laundering and corruption in Ukraine.

They should have just argued that the quid pro quo doesn't warrant impeachment. Instead they seem to be bolstering the Democrats argument.(threatening to withhold congressional spending on aid for personal gain)

It's gonna be amusing if he spends all this time and energy on the Bidens in an attempt to smear them and weaken him in a possible presidential match up only to see Bernie win the nomination instead. But apparently he isn't worried about Bernie at all. He seems to go at him less than Biden and Warren.

Thread on Bolton and the book. Makes good points. On executive privilege..I'm not a lawyer but I will note the Parnas stuff came out only after the courts let it be released so the argument that Bolton just let is spill like Parnas ignores that Parnas sought and got court permission for releasing everything.

This guy's claims are all over the place. I need a break. I can only take so much of this hypocritical, disingenuous, pedantic, bullshit.

Which is why Republicans voted against letting Robert rule on witness and evidence relevancy.

He's confident about facing Bernie becasue he knows the media will willingly play into his socialism scare tactics. He knows Bernie would struggle in those very states Biden could flip.

Bolton is not under federal indictment with the feds holding all his stuff for evidence. He had to get permission from the courts to release to the impeachment inquiry because the feds collected it as evidence against him and his partner and for other potential inquiries (Giuliani). As far as I understand it, Bolton doesn't need to go to ANYone to release something so long as its not under classification as a federal employee.

I mean, Bolton still gets money if he makes sales past whatever the contract called for, and it's obviously better to have a bestseller than not, so that's a weird argument to make either way as it doesn't really relate.

Wait, the GOP Senators are recommending to only vote Bolton as a witness if the GOP can bring in Hunter Biden? A quid pro quo on the impeachment of quid pro quo?

The GOP's Idiocracy seriously knows no bounds.

I'm wondering if >85% of trump supporters would understand any type of constitutional theory defense such as this fallacious one.

I also guarantee you most of the US senators don't understand these abstract constitutional arguments either.

Dershowitz is spitting so much bullshit he should be disbarred. Holy fuck.

He is saying abuse of power shouldn't be a criteria to remove the president. How can this dude not be laugh at?

It's actually remarkable how truly dangerous their arguments are. For a party that acts like the constitution and amendments are a flawless document, it appears they are hell bent on destroying it during this trial.

I can only imagine Trump is fuming right now. Nobody in that room can make sense of this garbage, so you know his simple ass is lost.
