The new God of war has amazing level design and exploration, it felt so pack and dense even if the trails were linear. This is definitely great news.

Hopefully this means more seamless loading, both series did it really well, even if Metroids were doors, it was fantastic for its time.

Freaking dead 😂

But yeah, as others have said, industry moves happen all the time, especially in the west. It's no secret that this community, even going back to the old place, has had an unhealthy obsession with Retro's comings and goings. But since the thread exists, I'll say it sounds like a good get! I really hope we finally get a glimpse of it next year sometime, but no way do I expect it to come out next year.

Years later, this is still my most anticipated game by far. I look forward to finally playing it on my Switch U in 2026.

After Nintendo announced that Retro is working on Prime, I'm sure a lot of people applied there. And I'm sure that was part of the reason why Nintendo told us that Retro is working on the game.

The level and puzzle design in God of War was THE WORST part of the game.

- mostly boring and linear.
- most puzzles were more of an annoyance than fun (I can only remember one good puzzle)
- those chests where you had to break runes were terrible, you don't know what range the runes are in, I kept turning back thinking I'd passed it and gone too far only to waste my time searching, give up and find it ahead.
- you'd find a path, follow it, do some annoying puzzles, and then you get near the end and find out that you don't have the tool/upgrade to reach the chest. The whole path should be locked behind the upgrade, A) so I don't waste my time and have to do it again when I get the upgrade. B) I'll most likely forget it and next time I pass through with the needed upgrade I'll see the side path that leads to it and think "I've already explored that path".

But then again I'm just an idiot on a forum, I'm sure Retro knows what their doing far better than I do.

I always find these "articles" over trivial industry moves so unnerving and weird. If it's a major director or producer, sure, but I'd feel super weirded out if I read a gaming news article about my LinkedIn.

ERA eats this stuff right up though :p

Yeah, I agree. Don't mean to thread whine but sometimes these hires seem so trivial (especially in a development team of like 300 people) that it doesn't really seem like it needs a topic. Maybe there should be a mega-thread for industry movers and shakers.
