Any creature that you put in an armor will look like digimon.
As much as I hate how overdesigned it is for the remake, that is certainly a hot take considering you're generalizing an entire generation off of 1 bad design in 2019 as opposed to judging the designs that took place in the late 1990s (hell Armored Mewtwo in the first movie was a cleaner design than this).

Tell that to the people generalizing all generations past Gen 4 based on 2 designs that aren't even bad, just unusual.
So normally the "this Pokemon looks like a Digimon" takes are just weirdos who still carry around a meaningless rivalry from when they were kids trying to justify their reasoning for not having nostalgia for newer designs by equating it to a similar thing they never liked.

This is infinitely better, a timeless design.
This new armour makes actual zero sense, even lore wise the point of it is to inhibit Mewtwo's powers so why all the extra spikes and claws and jank?? Just looks stupid.
As someone who is revisting the Kanto for over twenty years via Let's Go Eevee, it's a pretty boring region to be honest. Alola forms almost saves it for its missing type diversity.

To be fair, Power of Us only contained Gen I and 2 Pokémon with the exception of Zeraora... and a really random background Lurantis.

It's just armor. Not an evolution or anything, it's literally just armor, like the one already present in the original movie.

I agree, every game should stop at the first, fuck advancement and improvement.
It wouldn't be hated nearly as much if GameFreak didn't try to force nostalgia on their fanbase. Trying to cater to lapsed fans that played Pokémon Red for one summer and never touched the series again, while ignoring what the current fanbase wants, is what's causing the hate for Gen 1.
I enjoy playing through any of the Gen 1 games, hell I'm currently playing through Leaf Green as well and I finished Let's Go Pikachu, but the constant pandering and reminders of Gen 1 is getting tiresome.
