Duggan took over for Remender on Uncanny Avengers afterwards, but I don't remember it really being as sociopolitical as Remender's run. I didn't really read the first couple arcs though. Didn't jump on until post-CW2. Hated the first issue.
Duggan was just standard superhero stuff
Decent but just superhero adventure with character drama they don't deal with it at all

Same reason why Superman doesn't stop Joker War immediately or any other time a villain almost destroys Gotham
Bit different. There's one Clark, and he's dealing with Clark problems and we can assume that Clark problems take up time that could otherwise be spared for Gotham problems (unless he shows up for them in which case a gap appeared in his schedule).

There's a shit ton of both Avengers and X-Men, and other teams here and there.

Yeah that's what I read as well.

Superman hears all problems all around the world but he sees Batman in trouble in Gotham and think "...nah fuck that nigga he got it" and saves some kids of a burning building in Toronto

Correct, though the answer there has classically been "Batman told me to stay away". Even though Gotham is like a bay away from Metropolis. Byrne's old expanation:

when you realize shared universes rule but are also very, very stupid

it'll be interesting to see the mcu handle it, but for some reason I don't see "genocide" being a plot point in my pg-13 for the whole family adventure comedy romp

assuming covid doesn't kill blockbuster movies

At the very least, budgets above $100 million are going to become much more rare.

funniest shit was in No Man's Land and everyone was trying to help Gotham and Batman said "NO! STAY OUT! THIS IS A BATMAN STORY!"

Harley Quinn's version of No Man's Land was great: Batman's been broken and the rest of the JL has been imprisoned in the Book of Fables and the Queen of Fables is dead, we don't know where the book is and why the fuck would anyone want to open it and let the JL out?

I knew Fred Perry as a furry porn dude and then realized later that Gold Digger was a actual published thing, so that was a interesting mental trajectory for me.
I will say and this is TMI Central but he draws a nice penis.

How does the guy who wrote some of the weirdest Silver Surfer comics make such a mediocre FF?

Can we have Ewing Co-Writing every FF issue too?

I really need to find a panel of people stuck in traffic in a Superman story where the guy in front gets yelled up for stopping during a superhero fight because "it's metropolis, Darkseid invades every month, just go"

You ever read Chase? It's from that Cape Punk late 90s period of DC and I think you'd like it.

Imagine being a construction company that rebuilds the cities after all their city destroying events in Marvel. You'd be a trillionaire.

There are like two companies covering all the major reconstruction efforts in the United States and they absolutely should have been broken up by now but it's the US so nobody cares.

Seriously how poor must the currently accepted construction standards be to get all of this stuff prepared in any workable amount of time. How many people in the Marvel United States are just like falling through holes in apartment buildings dying from asbestos?

I mean Damage Control is working with Juggernaut to...tear down old buildings and clean them up for insurance payouts? I'm not sure. It seems shady.
Isn't this exactly what Damage Control is?
They do cleanup and recovery, not reconstruction. Toad, Mystique, and Sabretooth broke into one of their warehouses or something to steal the plans for Orchid's new base.

I remember in Thunderbolts by Kurt Busiek, because of course it was Kurt Busiek, that heroes aren't supposed to help in damage repair caused by their fights according to unions.

I didn't know there was Damage Control.

Damage Control feels like it'd be a great concept for a show.

Hopefully it doesn't get pitched and then hang in limbo and then cancelled by ABC

They were going to at one point, on ABC.
variety.com

ABC Developing Marvel Universe Comedy Series

ABC is continuing ties with Marvel, this time for a comedy series. The network has bought a script for a half-hour, single-camera sitcom that follows the overworked, underpaid clean-up crew of the Marvel Universe, Variety has learned. Currently titled “Damage Control,” the project landed a put...

And then NBC or whoever did Powerless, I guess.

The Marvel universe makes the perfect argument for a socialism society and socialized civilization. The Mutants are right as always.

My other memory from Busiek's Thunderbolts is that he made an entire issue about that guy the Invisible Woman spooked when she took his taxi without his knowing back in an early FF issue (I think).

So you're saying socialism is viable as soon as we develop a resurrection process and have a sentient island that can generate all drugs and resources for free?

what if everything goes to shit at the end of his run and we learn that it all was just a long con to condemn socialism?

It's probably not gonna be Hickman who does it, but eventually Krakoa's gonna die and we'll be back to status quo.

I'd rather Krakoa continue though and just adapt and stop being isolationist. Return to the dream of coexistence without living out of a mansion waiting to die.

Is hulk by leob omnibus good?
If you turn off your brain, you can enjoy the Ed McGuinness art. The whole thing is a pretty mediocre run of "smashing action figures together."

The Phalanx is the ultimate bad guy in the end, right? I'm someone has a draft of why the collective technarchy is a condemnation of socialist distribution of resources and a rejection of the individual in some bullshit Ayn Rand way.

when you think about it krakoa is backed by an organization of businesses that effectively form the largest multinational corporation on the planet, run by the wealthiest man on the planet

how much PTO are you giving your employees Xavier? what's the benefits package like?

I think it's implied Xavier just gives everyone a shitload of money. There are a couple of scenes with mutant giving people loads of money like Kate did to get her tattoo after closing time and some other instances.

I think the hick-man are very much a study in seeing a utopian society slowly collapse or become corrupted due to interior and exterior forces. it'll be fascinating to see what it looks like once his run is over.

edit: also because of incompetence. why was nobody paying attention to apocalypse?

edit 2: and the lesson will be to not have your nation founded and funded by a shady motherfucker
