Nothing hugely surprising there. Nice to see the likes of Black Panther and Roma get some love. Tentpole and streaming films are usually given a wide berth at these sort of events so regardless of whether or not you feel they're more deserving of the more traditional Oscar recipients I'd hope we can all agree that it's good to see the Academy expanding beyond the more 'worthy' cinema contenders that are nominated.
They don't want Barry Jenkins to become the Patriots of the Academy Awards.
The documentary nominees are low key great, Won't You Be My Neighbour missing is odd but Hale County is an inspired pick.

These are the worst best picture nominations that I can remember for a while. Especially since there were plenty of other great movies released in 2018 that could have replaced those 3

It deserves the costume one at the very least, but frankly considering how people acted about it when it was put forward just the nominations are a moral victory.

I mean, BP deserves it over Rhapsody, that movie was wholly mediocre.
I forgot about that. Then again, I liked that movie if only for my boy Max von Sydow.

Ali still gave an amazing performance. I wouldn't be mad if he won.
It was a great year for movies, the academy just happened to skip over most of them.
I don't expect it to win BP at any rate, but that nom was well-deserved and expected.
