That brings back nightmares.
Most action game's stories are just whatever but a lot of them have great and charming likable characters. SB doesn't seem to have any of those.I'm not going to pass final judgement until I've finished the game but I'm surprised to see such dislike for the story. Not because it's some incredible yarn but it's good enough and serves it's purpose. I've never needed action games like this to have hugely involved stories but I'm far more invested in this so far than I ever have been in any of the DMC, GoW, Doom, Ninja Gaiden or even Bayonetta games. Though at least had they had a lot of charm. I feel like the game us being held to a standard that nothing else in the genre is. It's 90s anime nonsense and that's okay.
This game is so... so damn good. The music is also putting in a lot of work. It is endless vibe.
Ehhhh her acrobatic combat skills are quite distinguishing imo.In having a decent time with the game so far, but it's honestly distracting just how bland Eve and Adam are.
Eve being attractive is her only distinguishing characteristic, and I legit wish Adam's drone would just leave me alone.
Nice look!
I am also super digging it, just wish it was presented/stitched together in a cleaner mannerI feel i'm in the minorty cause i'm digging the world/lore/ story so far. Granted i'm only at my first steps in Xion, but i'm reading and taking in everything at leisure so far.
Agreed. It feels and looks so satisfying. Repost from a few pages back but triggered it mid combo when Eve was horizontal in the air and just 😚👌Oh, and "blink" is one of the coolest techniques I've ever seen in a game. So satisfying.
lmao a big plot reveal just dropped and I had called it before the game even came out
The Naytibas were humans all along! yeah fucking duh. I think this was too obvious to be a real plot twist but I'll tag it anyway.
this is also cribbed entirely from Nier Replicant. Like, almost word for word.
This game is pretty good but not much more than that I think. Everything outside of combat is kinda flat and there honestly isn't a ton of combat in this lol
Anyone playing this on easy? I'm waiting for my copy to come from Gamefly, and I just wasn't clicking with the combat during the demo on normal mode. But if easy is a little too easy, then I'm considering playing on normal.
yeah this combat rips. i like how the normal attacks feel weightly (a la Dark Souls) while the abilities are zany and freeform (more character action game like)
tbh this is the first game to really nail the merging of the two combat philosophies
Honestly normal mode is still quite easy. I have only died a couple of times in my many hours of play. Those times I did die is because I got greedy like in a Souls game. A lot of the skills you unlock in the first few hours help mitigate timing of the parry and other defensive mechanics.Anyone playing this on easy? Yeah, I would love to see the team take a second crack at it. There is a lot to love here, but also some roughness. For a first console game from a country not usually known for making console games, it is a solid first effort. That being said, there are absolutely areas I want to see big improvements in a hypothetical sequel.
The hint system deserves a huge shoutout. They're also vague enough to still give you some sense of accomplishment.I haven't seen this get brought up so I wanted to mention this, because it deserves credit.
The hint prompt…
Thank you. Thank you Shrift Up. Why have other devs not caught on that many of us don't want the character to talk out loud after 15 seconds on how to solve the puzzle. Let us solve it, and if we're stumped, give us the option to prompt the solution or hint.
This is why the story actively hurts it for me. I'm trying to care but the characters are so dull and the general writing is so uninteresting. If the story is bad in a good action game I don't really mind as long as I can ignore it but here you're kinda spoonfed the story along with slow walk sections. This game is pretty good but not much more than that I think. Everything outside of combat is kinda flat and there honestly isn't a ton of combat in this lol
Eh, to me this feels pretty close to the Sony blockbuster formula, just a little jankier and less budget. You can tell they were heavily influenced by Playstation titles, especially God of War.Great game, not into so-called "blockbusters" these days so this is perfect. Combat combat combat. The combat technique combine with the awesome presentation is so entertaining
Very satisfying for the most part.
Have to keep reminding myself to stop playing it like Sekiro. Stop playing it like Nier. Stop playing it like Bayo. It's got a unique identity and that's pretty cool.
And this is coming from someone who wasn't impressed with the demo.

I am extra shocked as Sony published games are often obnoxious with stuff like that. They are usually riddled with character in love with the sound of their own voice who never shut up and try and talk you through even the simplest of problems. Uncharted and GoW were particular. Even when you are in the middle of doing it they still feel the need to chip in. Even if you are half way through solving it. Sometimes it makes my long for the days before voice acting.I haven't seen this get brought up so I wanted to mention this, because it deserves credit.
