I've updated the Nintendo sales thread.
It's a fairly big update because there are shipment data until December 2017 for lower selling million sellers.
This means that WiiU chart is close to definitive and 3DS is also much more up to date now.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/ni...ardware-sales-data-from-1983-to-present.2725/

There it is: 2.85 million for Fire Emblem Fates. Fire Emblem Three Houses should do at least 3M, not is 4M so unreasonable after all.
As you can see the series is really taking off moving multiple millions. Which means its very possible that fire emblem becomes a AAA nintendo series on the level of splatoon, zelda and Mario soon.

It's the rags to riches from the bottom now we're here story we wish alot of Japanese games get and the same may possibly happen to the xenoblade series. Its a good time for japamese devs.

Yeah, it's an insanely great result and the next one will break 3M, imo. It's a big major staple Nintendo franchise today.

Also. People downplaying it in 3...

Three Houses should comfortably become the best selling entry in the series. I predict around 4 million sales.

I love Fire Emblem, but I would keep expectations in line. Fates had multiple SKUs and was $40. I don't see Three Houses hitting 3M easily.

Sadly it happened with Fates, which is one of the few games I have ever found so offensively badly written that I had to stop playing it.
My hope is that Three Houses is more like Echoes or even Awakening in that regard.

It's more "AAA" than Metroid, that's for damn sure.

Awakening - for better and worse - really brought the series mainstream appeal it never really saw before in the west. The ads for it were good too - showcasing the crisp cutscenes and artwork spliced with gameplay.

Thats a great result. Crazy how it became such a massive franchise after failing to break into the mainstream so many times.

Fates is amazing, however I was lucky enough to get the limited edition cartridge with all three games on it so I will always feel a bit biased towards it. However I will maintain that the gameplay in Conquest is sublime and leagues better than Awakening. Hard mode in particular was just amazingly tense at points. Awakening had the perfect cast however and Fates' story was pants.

Three Houses will top that for sure. 4 million is very doable, especially if they don't screw up the EU release this time.

My girlfriend loves this series. She just cantc wait to play the next entry on the Switch. She has already warned me that she will kidnap my Switch for an entire month when the game comes out haha.

It's good to see series doing great.

Fire Emblem taking its rightful place as one of Nintendo's premiere franchises.

I think Fire Emblem is a top tier Nintendo Franchise now... but Fates had 2 versions (3 counting Revelations and who knows if Nintendo counts that). And it was released at the highest point in the 3DS lifetime.

Three Houses should easily do 1 million, and we have yet to see the influence on Fire Emblem Heroes... but 4 seems really optimistic.

Do you know how much money Heroes rakes in? The series took off after Awakening. It's been a pillar IP for years now.

Maybe it's time to stop @ at this game.

The change on the gameplay and the style definitely paid off, personally i wished Kozaki worked on Three Houses as well.

Isn't this combining the sales of two different games as one? I wasn't impressed with Fates sales compared to Awakening, it seems like a drop in the player base to me. I'm not expecting the new one to do way better than the two Fates games combined, seems like wishful thinking.

I presume not since I'm pretty sure the last time they updated, the numbers went down since they decided not to count the DLC versions
How do they count the sales of the special edition then? What about eShop sales of Conquest/Birthright? You get a discount for owning one version and buying the other but they still come from the eShop same as buying one version for full price. Revelations was download only outside of the SE so I'm assuming it's not included, but that still leaves questions about how they count the two versions.

Three Houses to me is the make or break it moment for the series.

This is their chance to really establish the franchise as a major franchise and reliable multi million seller, well beyond just a couple million. They really need to nail the gameplay, writing especially and presentation though, which didn't look bad at E3 but wasn't exactly all too impressive either.

Pretty much every 3DS and Wii U franchise should see a healthy boost on Switch, particularly in the West. The sales potential for FE on Switch is much higher here.

You can't just take Birthright and Conquest and divide their sum in two to extract some type of performance from it: those games released at the same time, are part of a release cycle in the same way Pokémon games are, and use a lot of assets in common. Looking at them as one release is more correct than looking at them as two completely separate ones.

It will do better because it's on Switch, because Heroes is big and will serve as extra marketing, and because it will be the most technically impressive game in the series.

Sales don't mean much anymore when the mobile game has raked in more than half a billion. I can see Three houses selling better than Awakening/Fates, alongside free marketing from banners/events in the mobile game.

With the overall growth of the series is plus how well Heroes and the Switch are doing, I'd be shocked if Three Houses didn't do good.

I wish FE Echoes had sold this much because it's just soooooo so much better and just overall an incredible game.
The only thing I'd say Echoes did better then Fates were the character designs. Story is just as bad and the gameplay is by far the worst of the 3DS Fire Emblems.

That's not really how it works. You buy one version and then buy the other route as DLC for it. It's still a single icon in the home menu since it's a single game though. Well, you can buy Conquest and Birthright separately, directly from the eshop, but there are no discounts or in-game bonuses for that. It's like buying two separate physical versions. You do get the two icons in the main screen and can upload two separate Castles at once, which is really the only advantage of doing that.

It's combining the standalone versions, but most players presumably just bought the other route as DLC rather than actually buying a second version as a separate game.

between the 3DS games and the mobile game, the FE name is making nintendo quite a bit of money.
looking forward to see how the switch game does.

Love Fire Emblem Fates. Took me a while to play through all 3 paths but I'm glad I did- was well worth the monetary and time investment.

Bring on 3 Houses says I.

Ah, I see. I have the special edition cart so I never had to buy them that way. Still, you'd think they would want to count the 'DLC' sales in at least some way.

I'm expecting SW FE to do better than Awakening as SW has seen growth software, but this is counting multiple SKUs which probably have a big overlap.
