I think I get it but i'm not sure.

The movie starts in the future (for the sake of my question lets say 2023ish)

Movie happens.

Ending....

When Logan wakes he's in an alternate 2023 or further in the future (The tech seems rather advanced ) And either way what year does the Logan Movie take place? And in what timeline is it in? After the ending to days of future past or am I mixing to many thing s here?

I was just about to ask something about DOTF because I kinda want to watch it.

Is it a soft reboot? Do I need to watch the previous X-Men movies and Wolverine ones to "get it"? Where does Logan fit in all of that?

Days of Future Past is one of the 5 Comic book events I thought would never see happen on the big screen ( Infinity Gauntlet , Crisis on Infinite Earth, House of M, and Batman Vs Superman ) it was awesome and you should watch all the main line movies including the very very terrible Xmen III

Logan could be seen as it's own thing or taking place a few years after the end of DOFP

DOFP builds off of peoples fandom of the older xmen movies and also serves as a first class sequel but really you could just go in and watch it after seeing first class or skip that too. Previous moments are alluded to but you wont be lost

Only x1,2,dofp and Logan exist to me tbh

Thank you both. For some reason I find this easier to stomach through than Antman + Black Panther + Infinity War which are the ones I'm missing from the MCU. Will give it ago during the weekend I guess. :)

The movie itself is pretty self-contained, but watching X-Men: First Class will help you understand why the 70s versions of the X-Men are where they are. Other than that, DoFP makes minor references to plot points from X-Man 2 and 3 that aren't important enough to require watching those movies.

Logan thinks it's the adamantium. But he's dying of his mutant powers degenerating from overuse and breaking down the mutant gene that gives him his regenerative powers. Probably had to do with his actions in Day of Futures Past and phasing through time.

I say DOFP took place around the same time you see Logan wake up in the movie. Logan I think is the late 2020's or early 2030's.

I thought there haven't been mutants in the LOGAN timeline for a very long time. I need to watch that movie again it would seem.

A quick search on Google says Logan took place in 2029.

And I believe they said all the mutants died off (was it 5 years? 8? 10? I forget).

Xavier killed many of the X-Men in one of his fits.

Other Mutants were hunted down.

A suppressant was introduced in the water supply to prevent more mutants.

Not all of them are dead, but they were all but extinct outside of lab environments.
