Not even a 🦖 in sight and this scene is so good. Is it simply the score 🤔How does one cope with the reality that it is impossible to experience this in a theatre in 1993 for the first time ever again??

It is mesmerizing isn't it? The music is truly unbeatable.

I saw Jurassic Park in the theaters at the ripe old age of 8 and it was truly an event. Scary too, but a cool kind of scary. Exhilarating is maybe a more appropriate word but there were genuine moments of fear.

China
Hawaii is pretty, and John Williams makes good music.

EDIT: Also, a helicopter flying stupid low to the water. Why is it so low?

Grant ties the two female ends of the seat belt together to find a way to make it work, foreshadowing how the female-only dinosaurs find a way to reproduce.

It's a terrible scene and I will now ruin it for you with knowledge you can't unlearn.

Last chance.
Everyone except Genaro is sitting in a different seat during the shot when they get out of the Helicopter than they were sitting in during the conversation in the helicopter.

My favorite movie since I saw it three times in the theater at age 5.

And hell yes I'm biased, but I think it's John Williams' best score. It's so unique and perfect for the setting, just incredible stuff.

Yeah, I like that bit of foreshadowing. Subtle and clever.

Now if the island was full of only males, they would've found a male/male extension cord and killed everyone.

The T-rex cliff scene always confused me. Never understood how that worked.

Honestly, that was the one part I really didn't like about the movie. They highlighted that concept from the books, but never ran with the consequences. It didn't matter in the movie that the population had exploded...The challenges in the movie are solely dependent on other factors, the storm, Nedry, ect.

The only reason why I have bought the Swift helicopter in GTA Online is because it looks like the helicopter from Jurassic Park.

The jeeps are already backed up as far as they can go when the helicopter is landing, but after everyone gets out there's a shot of the jeeps backing up to the pad.

Oh. Ok.

Just watched it again with this knowledge and it's still majestic.

The uniqueness of the helicopter probably adds to the scene being memorable. The low flight and sleek design are a good combo.

Spielberg knows how to set up expectations. You get to be giddy and anticipating together with the characters on screen. It's perfect.

Definitely the Hawaii beauty + music.

The helicopter disappearing behind the green as it descends is an incredible shot.

This scene did nothing much to me honestly. Whenever I think helicopter arrival, this is what pops into my mind :

Score aside, I think Spielberg has a particular knack for directing likeable characters interacting.

Compare this to Jaws, for instance.

Echoing everything else but there's another factor: no green screen, the helicopter isn't cgi. It all looks so real

I think half of it is the anticipation. They're flying to this remote place with gigantic waterfalls and valleys and hills of forest, and get ushered into jeeps on arrival heading to some destination. There's not a ton of infrastructure on the island - there's a lot of unknown out there

Loved that scene.. young me actually could not believe I was seeing a dinosaur that looked so real. Now occasionally brings a tear to my eye remembering the excitement of that time.

The homage in Jurassic World was good as well

This is a good one! A childhood favourite of mine we recorded on VHS but the first few minutes of tape were corrupted so I didn't get to see the intro much growing up, perhaps that means I appreciate this scene without nostalgia clouding my opinion? Either way I love the setup, oozes style and great score. Maybe I'm biased but I think predator had aged great, Jurassic Park certainly has as well
