Me.
The 360 was an outstanding console and I was so invested in Live and the friends id built up over the years, Xbox One was for me.
After the poor reveal and ever more car crash E3, I was still all in. While I could see why people were frustrated with the always online and no used games, it didn't effect me... And then they back peddled
There was a moment where I flirted with the idea of switching to PS4. Some friends had and my Gold was due to expire. But I didn't, instead I played hundereds of hundreds of games.
I am so glad I did.
Backwards compatibility has opened up so many outstanding titles that I missed last gen. It also game we access to hundreds of more games I own.
Then the One X. Something that, on initial reveal, had me super hyped. Could it live up to it? No way.
But holy shit it did. Current games look and play better, 360 games look and play better. OG Xbox BC in 4k?
And what? Netflix of gaming? Yeah, er, right. Oh no, it is right - Game Pass is one of the best value gaming services out there. Incredible. And EA Access? Dat value.
Add to all this: Halo 5, where the multiplayer was outstanding. Forza Horizon just going onto another level. Gears 4 absolutely breathtaking to look at and a solid return of the franchise.
Cuphead, Ori, PUBG, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive. OG Titanfall was phenomenal.
And all the major 3rd party titles? Before the One X, yes the resolution was often lower than the PS4, but I don't recall anything being 'unplayable' compared to Sony's platform. Compare that to some of the 360/PS3 generation games... Sony often lagged behind, particularly in the early-ish days of that gen.
I get why so many people chose Sony over MS. And I do not blame them one bit. I also get that PC Era can say many of the games and services I've mentioned can be played there.
But for me, sticking with Xbox was absolutely the right thing to do. And next gen? With 'forwards compatibility'? I very much doubt I'll be going anywhere.
